Poll: Would you Renew?

If your membership expired today, would you renew considering what disney has done the first few weeks D23 has been public?

Re: Poll: Would you Renew?

It is still too soon for me to decide. So much of the membership has to do with things that are still coming up, like the Expo and special events. I'm mixed on the magazine but like the web site. I'm cautiously optimistic about D23 and the seeming willingness of the D23 team to adapt to fan community comments. I think we'll know much more by the time the 2nd issue of the magazine is published.

Re: Poll: Would you Renew?

Too soon to decide or vote on that one. There is so much great stuff available at the site for free. The mag will be a nice collectible, but could be bought individually. The expo could be the deciding point and seeing whatever else may be exclusive (and which absolute must-haves might be available on e-bay)

I'm the one who voted yes. As I said before, I have Battered Disney Fan Syndrome. The concept has so much potential; I am willing to give it time.

Re: Poll: Would you Renew?

To soon to tell. I'm giving them the full year to see what they have in store for us. If all we get is what we have now then I don't know if I'd be so inclined. But its something thats new and just started and its going to take some time to build on what they have, and I don't think its fair to try to make a judgement on something thats only a week or so old. They still have time to dazzle me....

Re: Poll: Would you Renew?

Well, the reason I posted this was because so far, I've been quite unhappy with D23. Mainly for the fact that I signed up on day 1 yet there are hundreds, if not thousands, of non members out there who have already gotten the magazine.

I am sure they have many copies of those magazines stocked up so I dont see why they didn't send those out first thing.

I too will give disney the full year trial (i dont have much choice now that they have my money), but if its slow/late receiving of the magazines, I have to say that being a renewing member would have to be a no go for me.

But everyone's right in saying its too soon to tell and perhaps I should just bump this thread up in a few months nearing or even after the d23 expo.

Re: Poll: Would you Renew?

There should have been a "not sure" option, not just "yes" or "no". I agree with many here that it's too soon to tell. I need to give them more time to work out kinks and see just how willing they are to adapt and listen to fan's needs. So, at this point, I would vote "not sure".

I voted no for now, my mind may change once I go to the D23 Expo.

Re: Poll: Would you Renew?

I'll renew my membership for as long as I can, mainly because the history of Uncle Walt and the Disney Company is what I enjoy the most. If dropping $75 a year gets me access to this, then it's worth it to me.

Say what you will, it's still a cheaper hobby than golf.

Re: Poll: Would you Renew?

I voted No because what I got was nothing yet.

What's with the polls lately asking me something i wouldn't know the answer to until months later? The other one was whether or not I'd like Paradise Pier after its done.

Re: Poll: Would you Renew?

It's very hard to vote now. I am willing to give it a bit more time. I must say that I was hoping the "special gift" would have been more than a litho. Since they said it wasn't a pin I thought it was going to be something nicer. I do not consider a litho nicer than a pin. With that being said, I'm still glad I signed up, but I would like to see a bit more.

Re: Poll: Would you Renew?

It's far too early to tell. They have an entire year to finish slaughtering the concept, or to wise up and do something good with it. So far it doesn't bode well.
On a similar note, I joined on the first day. Today I received my "membership card". No sign of the magazine or cheesy litho. The card was in a fold-over postcard type mailer, suitably battered by the post office.
I'm feeling like D23 is similar to a 'direct to DVD' film. Cut corners, poor quality and a big name to sell a cheap package.
But I'll still wait till the year is out before I decide!

Re: Poll: Would you Renew?

Hi. New to this forum - and wanted to jump in here with a response. Those of us who have joined are in for a year - and who knows how we'll feel at the end of that year.
BUT I just can't swallow the "this is new" answer. Disney has been building and running theme parks, making movies and sponsoring fabulous events and cruises too darned long for that to fly.
I paid $75 (and Disney's exhorbitant shipping fees for what I ordered) and don't even get the courtesy of advance notice about a pin release . . . nor an opportunity to buy it.
And the magazine? Beautiful - but available to everyone. The bi-weekly newsletter? Well, its already been said in other posts.
And the lithograph? Okay - some may like it and the quality is said to be excellent. But I would never have purchased it - as nice as it is. And it is not something that I will ever frame or hang. It will stay in the tube gathering dust. Why couldn't we have had choices - or at least something that would have had more universal appeal?
So . . . is this all there is? And then an event for which I will have to pay separate admission to?
Like I said, who knows what the remaining year will bring but if it expired today, there is no way I would renew membership in D23.
The buttons - the pins - the t-shirts. They each have "magical" messages. But so far, when it comes to D23 those messages feel empty.

Yeah, im still feeing that way. The next "big" event is the d23 screening of Up. Cool offer at first, but upsetting to me because the day and time is inconvenient. Midnight on a school/work night? No fun.

And only limited to socal residents? No fun at all for non-socal members.
