Indeed I do. But it is actually something that I'm looking forward to. Obviously something small enough to be shipped with a magazine, but interesting enough that I was willing to post about it

The thing that encourages me is that this is for D23 members only and not for those who just buy the magazine in a book store. Thus making the membership a little more worthwhile.

I was very happy to come across this news since I think this is the exact sort of thing D23 should be doing to make the membership fun and worthwhile.

Maybe it's a fan that has something Disney on it, "to beat the heat"?

I got my magazine and "Beat the heat" gift today - I think it's cute (not very useful, but the thought of it is really fun and nostalgic!).

The magazine is good, I've read most of the articles already, except for a few I'll get around to eventually.
(Sorry for no details, didn't want to spoil it for anybody)

EDIT:
Also, I really enjoyed the new concept art in the magazine =)

With your clue, I would definately say it is a fan.

Re: Rapunzel, Donald Duck, and new info about DCA Expansion from D23

It sounds like Disney are sending them out to Members earlier than the previous issues mistake. I got to admit the topics for this issue have me a bit more interested than the first issue. By the way how about mentioning what the free gift is, as while I apreciate not wishing to spoil the suprise for other Members, atleast you could hide it under the spoiler tag.

It looks like they tried to get the magazines out to subscribers before they hit the stores. That is a welcome change.

Re: Rapunzel, Donald Duck, and new info about DCA Expansion from D23

Okay, spoiler tags away!! =) Enjoy!
Spoiler
You guys are right, it is a fan, but it's supposed to look like a souvenir fan from 1955. It's got art on both sides of each piece of the fan, with an attraction and the land it's located in. It says Acres of Fun and Souvenir of Disneyland on it (but with the Walt Disney Archives/D23 logo on the back) It's not quite cardboard strength, but is somewhere in between flimsy and durable. Each picture/attraction is on one side of five "swing-out" pieces of the fan. The "Acres of Fun" piece holds it together.
One side:
Sleeping Beauty Castle
The Mark Twain River Boat Ride
Astrojet (fly it yourself)
(Chicken of the Sea) Pirate Ship
Canal Boat Ride ((aka Storybook Canal))
Second Side:
The Stage Coach Ride
Skyway Ride
Clock of the World (And rocket to the moon)
Tropical River ride ((aka Jungle Cruise))
Casey, Jr. Ride

Re: Rapunzel, Donald Duck, and new info about DCA Expansion from D23

A little more about the item:
Spoiler

It is an actual item pulled from the archives and reproduced for D23 members. The only real change was the addition of a D23 logo on the fan.

I think this was a cool little bonus, it is these little gifts and extras which will ultimately win me and many others over to D23.
