D23 Expo Buttons

I got one at the World of Disney store in Downtown Disney in Anaheim yesterday.

WOD had four on Friday - Ariel, Mickey, Crush and the Haunted Mansion ghosts. No sign of Figment, Chip 'n Dale or the Penguins from Poppins. I read in another thread that the handed out Chip n Dale at Comic-Con at the D23 booth.

I just saw on Facebook that they are giving away Figment buttons at the Comic-Con d23 booth today.

Yeah, it seems like by the end of today, the D23 booth at the comic con will have given away all 7. I was there on Thursday when they were handing out Sorcerer Mickey, which I got at Disneyland and at the D23 event, but I was happy to wear it around to promote D23 Expo to other comic con attendees. After all, that is the real purpose of the buttons. Disney doesn't hand them out for free just so we can all have complete sets. They want us to wear them around the park so that other people will ask "What's D23 Expo?"

They are nothing more than little advertisements for the Expo. I think they want people wearing them in the areas where people are most likely to attend from.

If they wasted their limited budget distributing buttons in NYC where they know few people will travel from, that leaves them less buttons to distribute in the LA area where most of the visitors will come from.

It all makes sense to me. Give away some cute little marketing buttons to the Disneyland fans and hope that some of them will actually attend the Expo in September.

I didn't mean NYC, I meant WDW, since that was where I was headed. I guess that all the Disney fans there aren't in their target, which is kinda understandable, though I'm not sure why they would limit themselves to just the L.A. area. But seeing as how there was a Figment one, it seems like they are targeting some sort of WDW type crowd too.

But I do think it is pretty neat they are giving them out at Comic Con and releasing a few a day!

Yeah, I got all 7 at Comic-Con. I had gotten all but Figment and Crush, but one of the D23 booth people gave me her Figment and I traded someone an extra Ariel for Crush, so yay me!

Also, one of the D23 people told me the Hitchhiking Ghosts and Chip 'n Dale were the rarest with the least amount of buttons made.

Now that my dad has pretty much surprised me with Expo plans, I'm looking forward to getting these buttons!

Will they be handed out at the expo itself? (if not, I will have to ask for one at Disneyana or Off the Page when I go spend my Birthday Fun Card)

I asked at Comic-Con if they'll hand them out at the Expo, but they said no as they are to promote.
