    A way to help out and do some good at the Expo

    I'll be honest and say that I haven't been checking on the D23 Expo Corporate Responsibilty page, because how unexciting is that. I decided to skim through all the pages tonite and saw this opportunity :

    Canned Food Drive
    Be an "ultimate fan" and help make a difference in someone's life. Bring canned food items to the Expo and help those in need. All food collected will be given to The Orange County Food Bank, part of the Community Action Partnership of Orange County.
    For more than 44 years, the group has worked to enhance the quality of life and decrease poverty in Orange county, working with close to 400 food pantries and community organizations to end hunger and malnutrition. Be sure to stop by to see a magical "can-structure" come to life over the four days of the Expo.

    ========================================
    Hopefully there will be someplace in the area (7-11?) that I can pick up a few things. Wonder if the "can-structure" will be a castle?

    I haven't heard of that either, until now. Makes me wonder why they aren't doing a better job promoting it. They should send it out via their twitter and facebook pages since apparently, people dont seem to check out their corporate site very much.

    Haha. I'm sure that they do. Won't mention any names or anything, but I went to a d23 event and during check in, somebody recognized me because I use my real name as my user ID here haha. I'm sure that they do listen, but due to the legalities of things, they won't admit it

    Also, I hope they re-post on twitter a few days before the expo because at this early stage, people will definitely forget

    I'd ship some items in since I can't go to the expo. Is there an address or anything?

    This is a really great idea - I'll be sure to stop at a store on my way in from LAX.

    It's crazy because I recently gathered up a lot of canned goods that I haven't used (and are NOT expired) and was going to look for a place to donate them. This works out extremely well.

    Now I have an excuse for bringing the really big suitcase.. Hubby was saying I could only take the small one so I could not shop much... BUT now I think I need to bring 2 big suitcases full of food.. and of course I can bring them home empty :-) thats what I call and WIN-WIN :-)

    This group does canned food sculptures at South Coast Plaza on occasion. They really look amazing!
