D23 Expo 2010?

"D23 Expo 2010 is a go
It has been revealed that there will be a second D23 Expo in 2010 and it will again be held on the west cost."

Is this true? I hope so I had schedule conflicts last time, would love to start planning.

I would say yes, because the first one was not a huge succus but it filled the parks with people and I'm sure they know how to get people to come to D23 in 2010 better than this years.

According to LaughingPlace, the second annual Disney D23 Expo is set to run again in 2010, on the west coast. No further details are known, but check back to WDW Daily News for updates as they happen.

Folks,

This is all just rumor at this point. My sources tell me that while it is a good bet that the next Expo will be on the West Coast, a date has NOT been finalized.

This rumor started at the Sip and Stroll event when someone misunderstood a statement from one of their Disney hosts. It then got picked up by others and posted to various sites.

Rest assured that we'll be among the first to broadcast the news when it is finalized. But at this point, there really isn't anything to report on the matter.

Yes, I am pretty confident that MiceChat will be the first and most reliable place as far as getting the real story on this... and any other D23 news!

I was at D23 Sip & Stroll. Barry, one of the guys who plans events and the Expo for D23, opened up to questions from guests and someone asked "Will there be another Expo and will it be in Orlando?" The response was something to the tune of "We just had a meeting about the next Expo, which will be in 2010 and in Anaheim." He said that they will consider Orlando for future Expos and that the dates would be finalized soon. I'm not sure what about that could be misunderstood or misconstrued as a rumor when it came from a party responsible for planning it.

I actually just spoke with Steven Clark, the Head of D23 last night about this and his words to me were, "We are not ready to announce the next expo, so all I can say is that what you are hearing is nothing more than rumor."

Can't get more firsthand than that, but I do believe it will again be in the fall in Anaheim, CA. Just my two cents.

I suspect that if there will be a formal announcement, it won't come for a while. Maybe they'll wait until March, when all of us early members will come due for renewal?

Regardless, if they do host another Expo, I'll be there.

The critical path for an annoucement is prior to the first round of renewals. For many, that means we will know something before March 20. I would suspect that the next issue of the magazine will have an ad for the event if it is a go. In any case, Disney has an option on the Anaheim Convention center for a number of years. Personally, there is no facility big enough in Orlando than the convention center and they are not going to go there. Too far off property and too close to the competition.
