Talking Bill Farmer (Voice of Goofy) chat - April 2nd at 1pm Eastern

Join D23 April 2 for a Members-only Live Chat with the voice of Goofy and Pluto — Bill Farmer. To join the Live Chat, which will take place from 1 to 2 p.m. ET., D23 Members can sign in using the Member name and password they provided during the D23 Membership signup process.

Bill's vocal talents starred in our lovable Goof's first animated feature film, A Goofy Movie, the television series Goof Troop and Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas. He has performed in more than 40 other films and shows, including Disney's DTV Doggone Valentine television special in 1987 — the first time he voiced Goofy and barked for Pluto in the same project. He also lent his vocal talents to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Beauty and the Beast and Ed Wood and to such Disney·Pixar films as a bug's life, Monsters, Inc., Toy Story and the upcoming Toy Story 3. But of all the characters he has brought spectacularly to life, it is Goofy that he cherishes most. "The hardest thing to learn was 'ya-ha-hooooooiieewe!'" Bill says about the Goofy calling card that accompanies every deliciously sinewy tumble or high-jinks pratfall down steps.

"Doing the voice of Goofy has become second nature to me," Bill says. "In the beginning, I had to stop and think what his motivation was, but now he lives inside me. He's a real father as well as the classic Goofy that everyone knows."

This is more or less during lunch time for most folks on the east coast and in central time zones. Hopefully a lot of folks log in for it.

I'm going to try. I may ask a question or two as well. Anyone else planning on joining in? I love seeing the questions of other MiceChatters pop up!

I just submitted a question about Max and the effect this change has had on the character recently. Will be interesting to see if my question gets answered (It'll be 4am here when the chat is on).

    Alexander:
While you have been the voice of Goofy, he has undergone a lot of change as a character - from a loveable but clumsy fool to the modern day single parent of Max in the 1990s. Do you think the introduction of the "Max" element to the character has had a positive effect on Goofy and do you prefer portraying Goofy in one way or the other?

    Bill Farmer:
I do like the addition of Max. It gives more levels to the character. I especially like the relationship between father and son in "A Goofy Movie," which I regard as one of the best projects I've gotten to work on.
    Yay... My grammar sucks though!

Dr. Niles Crane, it's good to see you back online at MiceChat. I used to love reading your threads years ago.
As nice as the other parks are, we must always remember that it all began at Disneyland. Disneyland should be the crown jewel in the Disney crown.

Ah, I wish I could have made this!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...
