    D23 - Star Tours Final Flight Event - July 26th, 2010

D23's "STAR TOURS FINAL FLIGHT" AT THE DISNEYLAND RESORT July 26, 2010

UPDATE: Please note that if you were trying to obtain tickets on July 14th, errors prevented the orders from going through. As a result the order info has been removed from the D23 site and they will try again tomorrow (July 15th) at 10am.

As many of you have noticed, we are experiencing technical difficulties. Ticket requests for this event will be available via e-mail tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. PDT
    Date: July 26, 2010
    Location: Disneyland Resort
Time: Check In begins at 10 p.m. and ends at midnight

    Tickets: Available July 14, 2010 at 10 a.m. PST.

    Cost: Free

Get ready to visit a galaxy far, far away one last time! After Disneyland has closed to the general public, D23 Members are invited to take an exhilarating “final flight” to the Moon of Endor before Star Tours suspends departures as it readies for its 2011 reimagining.

You will arrive at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney for your pre-boarding gathering. Guests will check in and receive their commemorative boarding pass for their trip. All guests will receive a strand of intergalactic beads (by way of New Orleans!). Enjoy a galactic beverage while mingling with fellow D23 Members and the D23 Team.

Once Disneyland has been cleared (for launch!), guests will be escorted into the park and directly into Star Tours. Bid C-3PO and R2-D2 a fond farewell as you walk past them in the pre-board area. After watching the classic 1987 safety video (love her hair!) you will enter one of the four Starspeeder 3000 vehicles where Captain Rex will welcome you one last time for your trip. We’d hope after all these flights, things will go smoothly but… we have a very bad feeling about this!

After you have landed safely, guests will be escorted back out of the park, energized to relaunch in the fall of 2011 with Star Tours: The Adventures Continue!

Was already planning on going to the park this day to get my last ride in (since I also rode on opening day) but I wasn't planning on staying that late. I'm cool with getting a ride on the last day.

I also got a ride on the old space mountain on it's last day although nobody knew it was it's last day.

That's neat Clinks - bookend rides. Opening and closing days. Very cool!

Did you stay the whole weekend? I arrived Friday night and stayed until Sunday night. The projections on the Matterhorn were pretty cool, as were the lasers above Tomorrowland.

No, just the opening day. I was only like 13 at the time.

    Re: D23 - Star Tours Final Flight Event - July 26th, 2010

    Nice Idea from D23!

A couple of things caught my attention in this invite:

Bid C-3PO and R2-D2 a fond farewell as you walk past them in the pre-board area.

Wondering if R2-D2 and C3PO will return in some form in the updated version???? Also, I'm wondering how much of the existing queue and "props" will be changed out???? We have seen some video of the updated attraction, but I don't recall anyone talking about changes in the queue. obviously, it seems quite likely that the path for the queue will remain the same, but very little has been mentioned about the changes to what we see in the queue.

And what will happen to our old goose from America Sings? And what will become of the tribute to the Mighty Microscope from Adventure Thru Innerspace? And some of the baskets have some "tributes" too. Now that I think about it, I might almost miss the queue more than the "Flight". The queue for Star Tours is really quite remarkable.

After you have landed safely, guests will be escorted back out of the park, energized to relaunch in the fall of 2011 with Star Tours: The Adventures Continue!

Wasn't the idea originally to open the updated Star Tours for Summer 2011? Do they need more time to update, than originally anticipated. If so, will WDW's update need more time to update, too?

ALSO, in this invitation, they mention:

    Star Tours: The Adventures Continue!

Is this the official name of the updated attraction?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! This is the first time I have seen this particular name. It really fits very well, as it keeps the "Star Tours" in the title AND with "The Adventures Continue!" it gives a slight reference that this isn't the original Star Tours, and it also gives a nod to the multiple locations that Star Tours will capable of! If this is the new name, well done!!!!

I completely agree. I will also miss the queue more than the ride itself. I was never a huge Star Tours fan, but always enjoyed the active queue.
