    Talking Destination D LIVE Coverage

We are covering Disney's Destination D event LIVE for you this Friday the 24th and Saturday the 25th of September. Fishy, Monorail Man, Dusty and the MiceChat crew will be chiming in to this thread with news, info, photos, thoughts and discussions LIVE as they happen.

We don't expect much breaking news from Destination D, it is more of a memory trip. But that's the exact sort of thing that Disney nuts like you and me love . . . isn't it?! Whether you are at the event as well or following along here on MiceChat, we hope you'll have a great time.

(NOTE: This thread will be locked to comments until the event ends so you'll more easily be able to follow and find the updates. If you'd like to discuss any of the comments posted to this thread, please start a new discussion about it on MiceChat. )

We're in the Grand Ballroom at the Disneyland Hotel and it's just brimming with Disney fans, waiting for a fun-filled day of Disneyland history, memories, and fun.

The Grand Ballroom filled with anxious Disney fans.

Our view of the stage. We just can't wait!

The waiting music is the wonderful original music from EPCOT (from back in the day when EPCOT had vision and theme).

I'd forgotten that they wrote a song or theme for every attraction. They just don't make 'em like that any more.

Bring back the EPCOT theme songs!

    Re: Destination D LIVE Coverage

Tim O'Day joins Becky to talk about the year they hired a little person to play the part of Baby Newyear. Newyear's Eve arrives and they take the little person to the top of the Matterhorn. He decides he doesn't want to slide down the Tinkerbell wire. So they trussed him up and threw him down the wire unwillingly. But while sliding down the wire, he screamed obscenities and flailed his limbs.

Becky found the video proof. Amazing, horrifying and hysterical.

    Re: Destination D LIVE Coverage

There were a total of 39 total kids over the course of the original show.
Thousands auditioned. But to get through, they had to sing AND dance.

The most fun was when they did circus acts for Disneyland's Mickey Mouse Circus.

They worked in teams and took turns practicing, filming, and going to school throughout the day.

    Re: Destination D LIVE Coverage

They each wanted maximum screen time, so there was a lot of competition. But they still had a great time and mostly worked well together. As Tommy said "It was positive competition".

Sherry had a better time when she was singing and dancing on the show than when she was at home with her friends.
