    Exclamation D23 Expo: Full Schedule

    Hey howdy hey everyone,

To the best of our knowledge, this is the full schedule for this year's D23 convention (though there may be a few smaller events and meets and greets at the individual pavilions which are not listed below). Also, please don't forget to stop by the MiceChat booth in the Collectors Forum to meet Samland, MiceChatter Sarah, Fishbulb, Al Lutz, Sue Kruse, Andy Castro, Monorail
Man, Dustysage and a whole cast of MiceChat characters. Plus, you might just win one of the many big prizes we have to give away including 2 two night stays at the Howard Johnson Anaheim Resort (sponsored by HoJo) and our grand prize two night stay at the Grand Californian Hotel (sponsored by Fairy Godmother Travel). Even if you aren't attending the Expo, we'd like to give you a chance to win one of our top prizes. Just visit this LINK to register.

SPECIAL MICECHAT BOOTH GUESTS: Disneyland's first President, Jack Lindquist (Disney legend and author of "In Service to the Mouse") is scheduled to meet with fans at our booth in the Collectors Forum at 1pm on Saturday the 20th. And Don Ballard, author of "Disneyland Hotel, the Early Years 1954-1988" will be meeting with the MiceChatters throughout the day Saturday the 20th and Sunday the 21st and has delightful images and stories to share about Walt Disney and the early days of the Disneyland Resort.

If you aren't visiting the D23 Expo but dying to find out what's going on, just follow us here in MiceChat's D23 section for the ultimate coverage of this event: photos, live blogging, interviews, videos and more.

    Re: D23 Expo: Full Schedule

Wow, I kind of don't see anything on here that interests me, except maybe the Lasseter/Carsland presentation (but won't this be at the Parks & Resorts area), MAYBE the Tony Baxter/Star Tours presentation, and the Marty Sklar panel. Where's the nostalgia, history and insight? All I see are a bunch of presentations about low-level, teeny-bopper oriented Disney stuff that is absolutely of no interest to me. Instead of the Studios doing one big presentation, why aren't they doing a big panel about the history and future of the Pirates franchise, or a sneak peek at The Avengers, or a panel with the makers of Brave? What about doing a whole "Vault Disney"-style marathon from Disney Channel to prove that Disney Channel actually is about more than providing an advertising vehicle to reach 7-year-olds?

All of these "meet and greets" with Disney artists hawking merchandise is not what I pay my money for.

I'll be there on Saturday and I needed your opinion on something. How far in advance should I line up for the Lion King 3D screening?

Hmmm... beyond the Walt Disney Studios thing on Saturday @10am, I'm not sure what else I'd want to wait in line for! I'm hoping there is more to the interactive section like last Expo!

I hear ya. In addition to a few others and the ones you mentioned I'm going to try to go to the history ones (the tiny handful that there are): Disneyland Hotel, Small World, vintage DL/WDW, etc. You mentioned Brave; there is a panel on Brave art on Sunday at 11:30 a.m at Stage 23. It's on the D23 schedule website, but hasn't been added above as of yet.

Hard to say -- it depends on the Saturday night demand. How many people (especially those of us from out of town) will opt to spend the evening in the Parks, since Lion King 3D will be out of Blu-ray soon? Since it's in the 4,000 seat Arena, from what I saw last Expo, I'd recommend a minimum of 30 minutes beforehand; 45-60 minutes might be better.

    Re: D23 Expo: Full Schedule

There is enough offerings to keep me busy for all three days and I'm still having to passo on some others because of time conflicts. And this does not include any of the Disney Channel offerings.

I too like history presentations, and the offerings at the expo are light. It has been explained before that the expo will focus on current and future projects of TWDC and the Destination D events will focus more on history.

For those wishing there was more history presentations, I hope you all made the effort to go to the Destination D events at DLR and WDW.

Just like at the parks, I'm starting to pay Disney a lot of money for a bunch of commercials, not experiences. I don't like being marketed to, I guess.

The D23 Expo is obviously not for everyone and it would be impossible to meet the desires of all.

If you don't like football, you don't go to a football game. And you certainly shouldn't expect the football players to break out in song and dance if musicals are more your thing.

The expo is what it is. For some like me it offers things I am interested in seeing and experiencing.

Sunday seems to be the weakest of all 3 days. It doesnt even have a main event at the end of the day. They day is over by 6pm, I remember last expo, we had the Toy Story 1 and 2 3D presentations on the last day and we were out by 10.

They did get really heavy on the Disney Channel/Radio Disney stuff, there are more than 20 offerings for them. Last year there was only one.

It seems pretty jam-packed to me, I'd bet even money on the Avengers showing up during the Studios presentation on Saturday. Do any previous Expo attendees have a feel for how early people show up to enter the Expo and the presentations themselves? We're D23 members so we can get in at 9, but do we need to get there before?

Anyone know if you can bring a copy of Epic Mickey and get it signed by Warren Spectra at the meet and greet?

ITA. To say that I'm completely underwhelmed by the schedule would be putting it mildly. This schedule doesn't come close to capturing my interest like either the first D23 Convention or Destination D did last year.

Hopefully the exhibits and vendor floor will make up for it. Otherwise, I guess I'll be spending more time in the Parks than I anticipated....
