Re: D23s Disneyland Off the Map event

    OFF THE MAP RECAP:

Did you have food normally served at Club 33 or was it special for this event?
We were served a delicious 4 course meal with wine parings prepared by Club 33's executive chef Marcel St. Pierre. It was not the regular Club dinner service where you choose your entree off of the menu. Special events at the Club usually have a special prix fixe menu.

How many people were in each group?
Each of the 7 groups had 10 guests. Each Group was lead to the special locations by a D23 staff member.

Do you have pictures of the gifts?
Each place setting at Club 33 had a wine glass etched with the Club logo on it filled with Club 33 chocolates. We were each given a Club 33 gift bag when leaving the Club with a rare unreleased photo of Walt in his apartment. The photo was an outake from the 1963 National Geographic photo shoot and was recently discovered by the Archives staff. It had never been seen by the public before last night. The D23 staff had the photo cleaned up, digitized and printed just for this event. It shows Walt looking out of the apartment window towards the Main Street Station. He has a great smile on his face and you can also see the reflection of his smile in the window. It is a wonderful, rare, and appropriate gift!

Were you able to purchase Club 33 merchandise?
Club 33 merchandise was available for purchase after dinner had been served.

Thanks for posting that, WDI33!! Seeing the gift bag with the photo of Walt... that's really special. Way better than a vinylmation or something like that.

Wow, sounds like it was beyond awesome, this would have been heaven on earth for me. Too bad I'm not a D23 member!

What a fabulous night and quite a bargain IMO! Hope I have a chance to do this. I've ridden the Lily Belle and toured Walt's apartment on ABD, and still think this would be great to do. BTW...we were NOT allowed to take pictures in Walt's apartment on the ABD tour.

What a great event! My Wife and I are dying to go to Club 33 so if anyone out there has a hook up we will gladly buy dinner!

I agree, it was an excellent event. It would be worthwhile at twice the price.
However, I would not pay twice as much to do it again. Much of the value is seeing special features of the park for the first time.

Re: D23s Disneyland Off the Map event

The over all event was great. Getting to walk through Walt's apartment and sit in his chair. Getting a detailed look at the dream suite. Which looks like it may have been more fun with the female guide as opposed to the guy. And the grand circle of the park in the Lilly belle were all quite nice and Vern was an excellent host, and truly came off like an old railroad man. Then there was a five hour lull, which got quite long and boring, as pass holders that frequent the parks often we did not need any time to explore the park and wait in lines. Then at 6ish we walked the staircase or rode the glass elevator into the club and took our seats. Then we shared a wonderful toast to the memory of Robert Sherman, that was special. Then the food came and the dinner went off without a hitch. Then leaving the park was woderful we were just about the last people to leave the club so when we walked main street it was empty save for the 8 of us and our escort that feeling was truly magical I would certainly do this event again, but I do think timing needs a fix, or maybe some free fast passes or an activity between the tours and dinner. If anyone is interest I can give a more detailed description plus pics of the food!

You are right. But for me, all I'm saying is that since Club 33's 14 year waiting list to be a member is closed, I would pay twice as much to eat there over and over again. To be a Club 33 member the fee is like $10,000 with a $3,000 annual fee. The closed waiting list is my issue. I sent in my letter to Club 33 about 3 years ago and Club 33 stated the waiting list is closed.

The good news is the waiting list will likely reopen.
The bad news is the initiation will be $25,000 with $10,000 annual dues.

Wow! I did not know about the club 33 changes.
Knowing that now, I would really pay twice as much to do "off the map" again.

I am so jealous of all of you that got tickets to such an amazing event! I am renewing my D23 membership in hopes for another Off The Map Event, otherwise i probably would not. Getting a chance to eat dinner at Club 33 AND seeing Walt's apartment would truly mean that my dreams have come true.
