D23 Confirms Early Entry to Expo for Free Members

D23 confirmed that all "free" level D23 members are allowed Early Entry into the D23 Expo in August. Because they are not sent a membership card, they must print their receipt from disneystore.com and bring a valid photo ID for Early Entry.

The D23 member line for the Expo was incredibly long in 2011 and this news promises to make lines even longer this year. There has been quite a bit of backlash on other sites after this announcement, so I figured I would post it here. Most of the backlash comes from Gold and Silver members who were promised Early Entry only with a paid membership.

    What do you think?

Wow. If I was a Silver or Gold member I'd be very upset. I am a free member but will not be attending the Expo. I wouldn't be suprised to find out there will be some sort of reparation to Silver and gold members, whether it be a special entry for them or some other upper level perks.

I posted my feelings in a similar thread. I paid for my membership and for D23 member tickets. Not cheap by any means. I can't imagine what the members who purchased Sorcerer's package think.

Maybe I'm just being cynical here. I was a member and have been to both expos. I swore after the last expo never again. Well I decided to give them one more try. I got my free membership a few days ago. I'm already having problems signing in and getting my expo tickets. I am thinking I'm gonna need the early entrance, just to get things straight and get in the door before noon. Better price, same problems.

As a Sorcerer I don't see this as a problem entering the Expo. I agree with Attic, that the paying membership holders might feel slighted but what would the remedy? I hope that calm will prevail for all. See you there.

I do want this Expo to work because despite the problems, it's a lot of fun. I can't wait to for the Archives exhibit, the after-expo shows, and shopping at the Mickey's of Glendale annex!

Yeah I feel there will be a free members line, a silver and Gold line and then the public non members line. I just dont' see free members standing in line with the paying members happening. Yes they will get early entry but after silver and gold have gone in and gotten their places in the front of the lines inside.

I mean seriously.. what's the point of a paid membership now when it comes to D23 expo if they allowed paying and non paying members to enter at the exact same time. Getting in early was one of the main reasons I got a membership.

I feel the silver and gold fans will cause a big enough uproar to make some line changes and entry period announcements in the coming weeks ahead. Clarification if you will from D23.

Too many lines. I don't see this working without lots of labor (all hands possible, hopefully lead by the pros from the parks) out front of the house to control the opening.

What a joke. Might as well just make one line fr everyone since all you have to do is sign up anyways.

^Well for the amount that those who paid for the Sorcerer's package they should. I wish I could have afforded that package but I am happy with the tickets I purchased.

Use this line....while you will still wait 30 mins to get in....its much better then getting in a 9AM when you have been standing in the normal line since 7

Does anyone know how to contact D23 to complain about this?

    Angry D23 Expo Early Entry

Just got off the phone with D23 member services with my complaint about free members getting early entry to the expo. Basically they don't care. I plan on calling a couple more times next week to try to talk to different people, but if anyone else wants to call the number is (855)323-5973.

I'm really frustrated. If they would even give us a separate door to enter through so our line won't be as long... it would at least be something to show that they care about us.
