2013 D23 Undiscovered Disney Session with Tony Baxter (video)

Nearly complete HD footage I shot of Fridays session with Tony Baxter and Josh Shipley.

You can find my short video of stuff we did on the floor including Journey Into Imagineering on my channel.

Thank you Chrisedge and Tony!!!!!! I could sit through a whole convention of nothing but Tony Baxter doing presentations about archive films and individual rides.

Liked the scenes from Holidayland. Tony didn't say this, but if Holidayland was not successful there may have never been a Club 33.

    Wow. Amazing.

The Holidayland footage is stunning. The balloon races and softball games are things I've ever never seen before. How I'd love to play softball at Disneyland now.

The Mine Train scenes are just classic, with the mules rides happening in the back ground.

Oh goodness- the footage of the original Tomorrowland are beautiful. With great views of Space Station X1. I'm at geek level 9.5 right now. Especially with the footage of the ride scene being painted.

A guy on a jet pack flying through the castle entrance.

Pluto and the Disneyland band playing on the Saucers for the opening of the Flying Saucers.

    Mr. Baxter. Wow.

Many thanks Chrisedge for posting this.

This is fantastic! I love seeing old footage like this. It's so good to know that footage like this is being preserved and shared! And I love how candid Tony is. He doesn't seem to toe the company line as some do. The shots he took at Lone Ranger were classic. "Best 25 minutes I spent in a theatre this summer"

And congrats to Tony for the window on Main Street! That is so fantastic!

I was lucky enough to first meet Tony when I sold him a video camera right before the opening of Euro Disney. He needed a camera for the opening and he actually brought me back all the footage he shot for me to watch. I have a copy of it somewhere in the chrisedge archives. Lol. I actually stayed in touch with him for a few years and he sent me a postcard when Indiana Jones opened. That was about the last time I spoke to him...he was a super nice guy!

edited to add, just saw this on the D23 Coverage page on Micechat...cool!

Club 33 was actually part of the deal to bring the Carousel of Progress and General Electric's sponsorship to Disneyland.

Thank you so much for sharing - it's strange that they showed Journey Into Imagination for a Disneyland audience...they probably had no idea what they were seeing! Maybe now that they have pulled all of that together, there will be some sort of book, DVD, etc. with some of the artwork from the original ride.

^ There are a lot of Disneyland fans who have either been to EPCOT Center or know the story of Journey Into Imagination through other Disney fans. The characters of Figment and Dreamfinder have a huge fanbase.
I myself was lucky to see the original Journey Into Imagination as a kid, and when Tony Baxter showed the footage of the ride, it brought a tear to my eye and the recalling of some very happy memories.
