Wii owners beware of latest firmware!

It looks like the latest firmware is bricking systems modded or not.

If the Wii has a blue light around the disc slot when the Wii is off is it updating its firmware?

Re: Wii owners beware of latest firmware!

It's never a sure thing, but I'd be willing to bet the two groups having problems are:

1. People that modded their Wii's

and

2. People that are fibbing about not having modded their Wii's.

It's notifying you of an update being available.

Disconnect your Wii from your wireless network until it gets sorted through as sometimes it will force you to update your firmware.

Re: Wii owners beware of latest firmware!

I heard it totally wipes out any external Homebrew application.

Yikes.

Re: Wii owners beware of latest firmware!

I'm not worried about it since I haven't added anything to my Wii that I'm not supposed to. I have a feeling I may have to update in order to play Wii Fit Plus. Will find out today.

Re: Wii owners beware of latest firmware!

Wii Fit Plus requires the 4.2 update, so there may be some kind of difference between the wi-fi download and the hard copy install. Or at least I would hope, because I have no plans of buying any new Wii titles for a while.

Re: Wii owners beware of latest firmware!

The update must have installed because Wii Fit Plus worked fine for me.

Re: Wii owners beware of latest firmware!

I updated mine. However mine is only two days old. My BF did say some systems were bricking after the update. I wasn't to concerned since I can return mine for the next 90 days. It updated fine though.

I updated mine on Sunday....was that the 4.2?

Mine seemed to be ok too after I got the update. I should state that I have not done much with it since I have been in Nor Cal the last week.

Just curious, do you have first hand experience to support that? I'm still guessing that only modified consoles are having the issue and the owners just don't want to admit they were caught monkeying with their Wii's.
