New "Disney Parks Blog" launched today (Merged)

DisneyParks now has their own official blog here:
Disney Parks Blog

A video of Ghost Galaxy that is the best I've seen so far, and hopefully news will come a little more freely from Disney.

Re: DisneyParks Official Blog

I wonder how little we can comment on what we think needs improved at the park.

Yes, "here."
Anywhere but actually inside the parks, Mr Smith.

One suggestion: separate the parks! There are postings about WDW mixed in with postings about DLR.

Re: New "Disney Parks Blog" launched today!

Hey .. thanks for the bit of news.
I just wonder why it took Disney so long to get around to something like this (?). So .. what it looks like to me ... instead of heads tuning into micechat, Laughingplace.com, etc, first ... they'll tune into their own place first .. and go to the non-Disney co. sites second.

That's what I gather.

The Blog Comment format is limited though. I wonder if they would dare to venture into a Discussion format? While keeping some sort of constraints .. so it does not get out of hand.

AH-HA!
This is interesting:

In other words .....
If you think you can get out of control .. or slightly out of control .. forget it!

In some ways .. this is good. I've personally been a poster on a few Disney-esque sites for a full decade. I've seen how testy it can get.
What this means ... if we want our voices to be heard .. we really have to focus in a very succinct and mature style .. what we say, and not ramble.

This could be good.

If we are worried if we are not being heard .. well ..... Now that they are doing their own site ... this is our chance to be heard ... just keep the content relevant to the subject .. and keep it civil and mature. And they'll listen!

HOWEVER .. if they moderate it "TOO MUCH".. meaning .. start deleting well thought out comments .. just to tout their own skewed way on a certain topic .. then what they are doing here is useless.

Lets see if they decide to keep this open .. or go for some Nazi-ish way.

Lets see how this unfolds!!

Interesting thought.
I think I will come here first. If any "news" gets posted there, someone will link to it. I'll check it out, then post my comments back over here.

I thought it was getting bad when they started selling "Disney Parks" merchandise in Disneyland, and their lack of using "The Happiest Place on Earth". Now they are just referring to Disneyland and WDW as "Disney". YECHHHH! They HAD it right with the older classic "I'm going to Disneyland" or "I'm going to Walt Disney World". Now they are just going to "Disney". BARF BARF BARF!!!!

Will the Parks blog be an honest blog? Or just a sock puppet for the monkeys in Burbank? We shall see. After reading the entries therein, it seems to me the Parks Blog is not a blog. It’s just a series of carefully constructed press releases from the simian denizens in Burbank, that have been formatted and packaged into something that resembles a blog. The simian denizens got the spirit of the thing right, but it’s been executed in completely the wrong way. The corporate mentality in Burbank is to blame for that.

Does Cheetah eat 'nanas?

If there's any doubt what kind of a "blog" it really is, and what it's for, read their Terms of Use. (No, I mean really read it -- all of it -- not just the Rules of Conduct.)

Real blog:

...a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries.

I have to say ....
I think the blog may have a few interesting articles to read ....
but when every response is followed by something only Carol Brady and kids & June and Ward Cleaver could say ... I think I'll just pass on it .. and stick to more honest commentary from micechat.com to laughingplace.com, etc.

I'm not interested in some sanitized, rose colored glasses, commentary magically spinned by Mickey Mouse and his executive buddies in Burbank.
