Post Tinker Bell Movie Canned

Apparently John Lasseter has canned the upcoming movie, "Tinker Bell."

Thank goodness.

But it's still listed on DisneyFairies.com:

http://disney.go.com/fairies/movies/movies.html

Many fans of Tink, including adults have been asking and looking forward to this film. I figured that since Pixar took over that it would improve the storyline and such. While I'm not to fond of the overall idea, it's already been announced and marketed for far too long. At this point the decision to not create a film is quite sad as young fans don't understand why.

Re: Tinker Bell Movie Canned

From what I have been reading on another website it was not canned, but it went back to have its story fixed.

Re: Tinker Bell Movie Canned

That's what I thought happened! Evidently that's not the case...

Quote:
Lasseter on Tuesday relieved 13-year Disney Toon Studios President Sharon Morrill of her duties while making it clear that the studio will no longer be in the business of direct-to-DVD animated feature sequels and one-off's. This follows Lasseter’s harpooning of Meet the Robinsons 2, Chicken Little 2, The Aristocats 2 and The Tinkerbell Movie, a half-century-later follow-up to 1953’s Peter Pan. Based on Lasseter’s recommendation, Disney CEO Bob Iger agreed to scrap the Tinkerbell project, despite $30 million of accrued development costs.

Say bad things about me if you must, but I was actually looking forward to a Tink movie. She is one of my favorite characters. They could have made it so good. Oh well. Easy come, easy go I guess.

Re: Tinker Bell Movie Canned

Where's the information from?

BTW: Just because it's been advertised for a looong time doesn't mean a thing. Remember all the promotion for Dumbo 2?

Well, I was looking forward to a Chicken Little 2...

At least John's getting rid of the Disney Cheapquels, but it's a shame this movie has to go with it. Tinkerbell is great, and she could have had a great movie...

Re: Tinker Bell Movie Canned

I would like to give John Lassiter a round of applause for having the guts to say, "Look I don't care if finacially it is better to release this piece of crap, I don't want Disney to make crap."

John doesn't have much say when it comes to live action Disney films, which is a shame, it pains me to see Disney's name on the Underdog trailer.

Re: Tinker Bell Movie Canned

Because of the time and money already expended on the project, what are the chances it could eventually be turned into a theatrical release?

Or does it really suck that bad?

Finally the voice of reason.

Now all those animators can stop working on inferior sequals and start working on Toy Story 3
