The Disney Cruise Line

Have many people here been on Disney Cruises? I have been on two cruises in my short life and one of them was actually a Western Caribbean Cruise on the Disney Magic stoping at Key West, Costa Maya, Cozumel, and Castaway Cay.

It seems that the quality of these Disney ships beats out the other cruise lines by a mile as when I made a trip on a Mexican Rivera Cruise exactly a year after the Disney trip, I was dissapointed by how they didn't put as much detail into your trip.

I am going on another Disney Western Caribbean (Grand Caymon instead of Costa Maya) in October 2008 so if anyone has been on a cruise, please tell us your opinions on the ship(s) and what you think of the overall service of the cruise line.

Re: The Disney Cruise Line

I'll give you my opinions when I get back. We are going on a Disney cruise this October, just a four day cruise. We can't wait. Do you have any tips you would like to share?

Welcome to MiceChat by the way!

Re: The Disney Cruise Line

We did the four night Bahama Cruise in 2004. Kids and adults both loved it. Ship was beautiful!! We stayed in the Roy O. Disney suite so it was pricey but we all fit in one suite and split it between 2 families. Worked out well. I liked that there wasn't a casino on board and that smoking was very limited so the kids weren't exposed to that.

Re: The Disney Cruise Line

We are going on our very first cruise -- with Disney or anyone else -- in the spring. We picked the 4-night as the 3-night seemed a bit too short and the 7-night seemed a bit too long. I'm sure we'll love it and end up signing up while onboard for next year.

I've heard surprisingly little negative comments about DCL.

Re: The Disney Cruise Line

It is hard to compare cruise lines as Disney is a very niche product and does not really compare to other cruise lines.

Luxury Lines

Regent, Crystal, Seabourn, Cunard, Silversea

Premium

Oceania, Azamara, Celebrity, Holland America

Superior

Princess, Royal Caribbean

Mass Market

Carnival, NCL

It depends on the ship though. Some of Princess and Royal Caribbean I would consider mass market, and some of Carnival and NCL ships could move to superior. With the major cruises lines they have som many ships that it really depends on the ship you on.

Royal Caribbean, Carnival, NCL have some lousy older ships that mainly do the short cruises or with Carnival, ones that do the Mexican Riveria.

It is hard to compare as none of these ships is themed like a Disney ship.

For information, seek out a reputable travel agent of try forums such as CruiseCritic, CruiseMates or ThreeCircles.

Re: The Disney Cruise Line

We just got back from our first cruise ever. It was the 4 day on the Wonder. It was wonderful and I have nothing but good things to say about it all. So much so we booked another for next summer!
