Dear Disney Online

I have just come from what has got to be one of the most stressful times of my life, the closing of the Virtual Magic Kingdom. I know the official reasons for the closure, I know that there is much more to the story than Disney is willing (or able) to comment on. I have Plenty of comments.

I've loved Disney since I was old enough to know what Disney meant. I remember watching Walt and the Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights. For years Disney stood for the highest standards and ethics in any business. for me this changed in the blink of an eye on April 7th, the day they announced the closure of VMK. Disney has ignored its most ardent fan base. Trying to get us to migrate to Club Penguin or Pirates Online was a terrible mistake. The people who played Virtual Magic Kingdom were bound by something more than community, we were bound by our passion for Disneyland and Disney in general. Toons, Fairies, Penguins and Pirates just don't cut it for us.

I just want someone at Disney to know this -

You have broken my heart. I will never play another online Disney game. I poured money into buying Disney products and going on Disney trips. I have been planning a trip for my 50th birthday in a few years, but I will be visiting one of the other numerous theme parks of Orlando instead of the Disney parks. More importantly, I will never again trust the Disney Company to be what they purport to be - family oriented and caring. You have proven yourselves to be just another corporation.
