Electric Tiki to make Disney collectibles!

A company created by an ex- Disney Animator, ELECTRIC TIKI DESIGN, maker of statues and other collectibles based on film and television have joined forces with Disney. While they haven't shown us what they're going to do, their announcement graphic looks promising!

Re: Electric Tiki to make Disney collectibles!

They have some interesting pieces. Majority appear to be animated characters, they have even done a Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie piece. I looked at their soon to be release Woody Woodpecker/Chilly Willy pieces, also, and they all look very nice. They cost in the $70 to $75 range, and the Woody pieces are made of something called "polystone". I didn't see the size of these pieces listed anywhere. Does anyone see that info?

At least these don't appear to be vinyl doggie toys, so that's good. But I still think the price is out there. (yeah I know a lot of the maquettes for action hero characters can be expensive. But $70 is still too pricey for something less than 12 inches.)

Shoot, I didn't even see that! But that's rad! No better way to kick off the line than with the terror that flaps in the night!

And yah, Aladdin, these ARE a bit pricey. I have a Hellboy statue that they made... it's heavy (polystone) and limited to 1,000 and cost $180 and is completely sold out.

The Darking Duck teeny weeny maquette will probably be even RARER. Just using Andy Panda as a comparison, he cost $59.99 and is limited to only 325 pieces. Standing 6 inches high and weighing 2 pounds.

Now if you think about it... those Walt Disney Classic Collection sculptures probably have a higher edition size and sell for sometimes a lot more. I don't think they'll have too much trouble selling Darkwing Duck.

    Thanks, Coheteboy.

I was going to mention that the Disney pieces will probably have a premium price. I wouldn't be surprise if they were $10 to $20 more.

It would be nice to see something quality, somewhere between the size of Ocheifski (spelling?) and the Walt Disney Classics Collection pieces.

There are two Jessica Rabbit pre-production art photos on the site under the Mini-statues page, they look awesome. One is a concept outfit from Rollercoaster Rabbit - the other is Ranger Jessica - the look good, can't wait to see the real thing.

I also have a Jessica Rabbit blog where I intervew an original Jessica artist Mark Marderosian - if interested please check it out - Jessica Rabbit artists always do such awesome work!

Well Tracey worked on the Roger Rabbit shorts and so he has a history with them. Plus he is a Disney Afternoon fan. I can't wait to see the Walt Disney statue.

Re: Electric Tiki to make Disney collectibles!

More news! (from: Action Figure Insider - Best Toy News on the Web! )

We are well under way on our "Disney Projects". Upcoming are "Teeny Weeny" mini-maquettes of Darkwing Duck, Chip, Dale & Gadget from Chip and Dale’s Rescue Rangers, Jessica Rabbit in her concept outfit from the animated shorts "Roller Coaster Rabbit" and "Trail Mix Up", Roger Rabbit with interchangeable hands to go with both Jessica’s, Mary Blair’s Alice in Wonderland and Super Goof! The Rocketeer will join our Classic Heroes line as well as Goliath from the "Gargoyles" animated series. Soon "Tooned Up" will be Herbie the Love Bug, Tron, Mary Poppins and Walt himself will complete Phase 1 of the "Disney Projects". There are a few more pieces that will compliment the line as well.

Exciting stuff... but a tooned up Walt? This will be interesting indeed!

    Rocketeer!

Here's Electric Tiki's own ad for the Rocketeer:
