Thumbs up Trip Report: Carter's Toy Museum and Ice Cream Fountain

YoYoFlamingo and I were out in IL for a couple of wedding showers last month. My parents are awesome and said that since we'd have time in kill in Indianapolis (where we flew in) we could go to any museum we wanted. Of course we chose Carter's Toy Museum in nearby Zionsville. It was a treasure trove of old toys and special Disney items.

All pictures we took are in this Flickr set
    Here are a few:

The musum is located right in the cute village.

Right inside the door are a few old Disney Stores figs. He had a lot all over the museum!!

Floor one had the antique shop, a few toys and a garage of old cars.
The first floor was filled with old ride on cars. It also had a few old shooting games and a few bumper cars!

Old time and fake Mickey and Donald

There was also an old friend hanging around (and my parents)

The third floor had case after case of toys!! It also had a working carousel, an alive tree, a coke corner and an old time moving toy.

Here's Daffy Duck, Goofy and the old time moving toy (boy pedals bike).

    Open up!!!

I tried to take pics of every Disney toy I saw. Here are a few of the pics -they're all at my Flickr.

They had newer toyd as well as old toys!

    Not creepy at all!

    Wooden cars...

    Jungle Cruise boat!

    for the DonLD LOVERS...

    now Mickey...

    Pluto...

They also had quite a collection of lunchboxes...

    Dwarves...

    CREEEEEPY Dwarf masks....

Mr Peanut Peanut Butter Maker = AWESOME

They also had a big train set on the 3rd floor.

    Mickey in the Box!

Jeff and I really want to start a board game museum now!

    Viewmaster:

    Yay Robin Hood!

I found this motorcycle with the naked pink baby fascinating.

Disney tea set for sale in the antiques shop:

And a cookie jar that is Minnie on one side and Mickey one the other:

OF COURSE we had to have ice cream in the shop. Delicious!

his toy - the cutain would opn and the band would play. Neat!!

Again....all of the pics, inlcding many more are in my flickr set

    Hope you enjoyed!!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Wow!!! This looks like an incredibly fun place to visit! Thank you so much for the report and photos!

On a sidenote, I think from now on whenever people ask why I'm collecting so many toys, I'll just tell them that I plan to open a museum one day

    It was awesome!

That's a good idea! The guy said he'd had a storehouse just full of many of the toys.

What an amazing place. I'm afraid I would have just been overwhelmed and looking in every nook and cranny for interesting finds.

    Thanks for sharing.

Great museum - but I'm a little perplexed as to what French Fried popcorn is - there was a box of it next to Mr. Peanut.

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!
