Hi there Collectors,
I wanted to let you know about my latest Disney release which is a little different from my usual work. For one thing, this piece will be sold as both a limited edition paper sculpture and also as a limited edition Giclee print.
I was asked to design a piece of artwork for the 2009 Disney's California Food & Wine Festival© at Disney's California Adventure® Park and, since I was raised in the Napa Valley, I came up with the idea to create a wine label for a fictitious vineyard based on some element of the Park. We are planning on this being a series that I will add to every year.
For the first year I went with the icon of the park, Grizzly Peak, and created label for an “Old Vine Zinfandel” from the “Grizzly Peak Vineyards.” The artwork was designed in a woodcut style that pays tribute to the Arts and Crafts movement on which parts of the theme park and Disney's Grand Californian Hotel® & Spa are based. The artwork features Grizzly Peak against a clear blue sky and nestled in front of it is a gnarled Zinfandel vine ready for harvest. The original artwork was created with watercolor and pen and ink and then scanned and incorporated into the label design. The artwork also features the year it was created and also the festival name.
There will be a limited edition of 10 hand assembled paper sculptures featuring this artwork that will retail for $550 and an edition of 250 Giclée prints for $50. Both the print and the paper sculpture some with a Certificate of Verification.
These pieces will be sold exclusively at Off the Page in Disney's California Adventure® Park and will only be available until June 8th.

BONUS:
I had originally planned to include a faux "wine review" along with each of the images I created but the lawyers would not allow anything that made it seem like this was an actual wine being produced. My goal was to write something that sounded like and actual wine review but also talked about the attraction on which it was based. I had already written it so I've pasted it below for you to read.
"This 2009 California Old Vine Zinfandel is remarkable. Sitting at the base of California's iconic Grizzly Peak, these old world vines produce a strong and solid Zinfandel that is head and shoulders above other similar vintages. It is fierce and aggressive, with hints of pine and oak that envelop the palette nicely. This action packed wine can be pared well with fine California Cuisine, fruits and cheeses."
