what is the story on these?

they were found at my grandma's house and they look like coasters, they say made in canada on the back of the package. I just wonder when they were made?

I remember those. we don't use them. they are too bumpy to use as coasters. I can't say with any certainty, I'm guessing 70's or 80's.
