If I were to order the same piece from Delivears in California after this sale was over the shipping would be around $100.
Amen to that! I'm very glad Disney provides the discounts and the reasonable shipping. It's got to be to their benefit to do so and sell these high-priced pieces.

    Glad you got one!

I'm looking forward to this piece. Granted, the Pinocchio ride is one of my least favorite in Fantasyland as a ride, but the building is still beautiful. I love the three scenes they picked for this one! Plus, the Village Haus is one of my kids favorite places to eat (they insist it's the best pizza anywhere--I think that's just because they're in Disneyland) so we have very fond memories of the place.

I laughed when I read the part about your kids thinking the pizza at the Village Haus was the best in the world. I remember when I had gone there back in 2005 and my nephew and I were famished (having arrived from Hawaii that same day). I ordered a pizza and salad combo and when I bit into the pizza...I had the exact same thought. Two days later I went back for more pizza (and not as hungry) and it just was not the same...LOL!

Yes, indeed. Still, $401 for Pinocchio (with Visa discount)! WOWZERS! Won't see this sucker until Christmas, I promise you that.

Now the scary part... waiting for the prebooks for the platform.

Matt...why Christmas? Is this a present to yourself or a gift from someone?

Both. Mom pays the credit card bills for the Olszewskis while I finish my college studies and, given the high price of Pinocchio, aside from an arrival inspection, it's not coming home until Christmas.

Ahhhh....wakarimasu (understood)! At least you'll have at least one awesome present under the tree. I hope you don't have to wait until Christmas 2012 for the Fantasyland platform...YIKES!

Probably not, since that will be a down payment initially. As it is, I am still trying to decide if it is worth setting up Fantasyland initially until the lighting rig is released. Hate to have to do all the work twice over, especially bumping up against the Main Street base.

I don't know if I have the will power not to put the base together immediately. I got in late on Main Street, so I had every piece ready when my platform arrived. It will be different this time around, setting up a partial base while awaiting the Carousel and Storybook Land...

And the Skyway and the accessories and the lights...

But yeah, I may be tempted to at least see how it will look all put together myself.

My Pinocchio piece arrived yesterday in great shape. Disney does do a good job on these. It's beautiful, of course. I really like the three scenes they picked for this one--really the greatest parts of the ride to me. Now I just need to figure out how to pipe pizza smells out of the Village Haus for the kids...

Ditto. I'm SHOCKED at just the sprawl of the piece. I got mine on a shelf right below the Jungle Cruise and the footprint size is pretty comparable. Great detail, great lighting, just a fantastic piece.

That's the one real disadvantage to long distance collecting: not seeing the pieces until you open the box. I mean, you see photos, but you don't get size, spacial displacement or true detail until you have the real McCoy in front of you.

    Worth every penny.
