Good luck to all of you still looking. I hope you don't have to pay out the rear to get these.
So true - the artwork really IS better than the actual dolls. Somewhere in the interpretation, the style was lost.
It was my original understanding that these dolls were designed as if the princesses were living in the 50's or 60's - hence the long eyelashes and eye shadow - but somewhere along the way, that marketing angle quietly was hushed and they just became "designer" versions of their usual selves. They're still nice, but not quite as spectacular as the artwork (kudos to those artists!)
I've managed to acquire 6 out of 10, and it's been both frustrating and entertaining watching the hype. No way I would ever attempt going to a store - Black Friday pre-recession was bad enough; I don't need a sore throat and chills from being at a mall all night. Online worked out okay - not perfect, but okay.
Should we start a thread in the Collecting category about who is looking to trade which dolls for which? Maybe I'll do that...
I am hoping the the value goes down some. I am in no big hurry to get my Snow White. I can wait!
