Woohoo! Thanks for the reply. I bought a Bachmann "The American" train set with four passenger cars with the intention of using it next to the Railroad Station or on the track at the rear of the Fantasyland platform. I've also wanted to buy a few of the Bachmann Open Sided Excursion Cars for the same purpose, but I've held off buying them.

Welcome to the world of Olszewksi. It is a lot of fun, my wife even thinks it's pretty cool. The CK Holiday that Lowell Smith is producing appears to be based upon a new version of the 4-4-0 American produced by Atlas (see link Atlas N 4-4-0 Locomotive). The new Atlas units have been getting favorable reviews and I would expect this unit to run better than the original EP Ripley produced by Bachmann.
This will interest the rest of the group, as I chatted with Lowell via Facebook regarding the current status. I asked if he had information regarding the UPC, which will make it much easier for those of us ordering via Mail Order. He is working on getting that information from Disney and I will pass along what I find out.
Lastly, for those of us interested in having our Disneyland's running two train operation there are options. As a model railroader (any others in the group?), I have produced progressive block with relay control and DCC (digital command control); DCC is preferred. My plan is to spend this Fall figuring out how to fit (more like squeeze) a DCC decoder inside of these little 4-4-0 units. I will be sharing what I find so others can do it too.

Thanks for all the information, Justin. One quick question - do we know for sure yet if it will be just the engine or the Holiday also include passenger cars? It seemed kind of up in the air last time the subject came up.

I had not thought about having Retlaw-2 as a part of the set. My thinking was more towards one the Holiday (Retlaw-4 green or Retlaw-5 blue) sets or the Excursion (Retlaw-3) sets. This will align much better with the EP Ripley and the original Retlaw-1 passenger set. Either way I am still thrilled and cannot wait for the release.

Superb news, since this works with how the Ripley was released with the opening day combine and passenger cars. Can't wait for this to go on sale!

It is in stock at Disneyland. I just bought 2. Locomotive/ tender sold separate from 3 car freight set. $135/$130
I just got off of the phone with Merchandise Guest Service and was able to order both items. They are available from both Disneyland and WDW (specifically Art of Disney at Epcot).
Being that I am in Wisconsin, it was less expensive to ship from WDW. My total was $299.95 for both the loco/tender, the rail cars set and UPS Ground shipping.

I have not read anything to date that indicated if this was an open or limited edition. What I do know is that many of Lowell Smith's product lines have extended, though somewhat limited production runs. I was not going to risk it and ordered a set.Quote:
