    Re: Vintage Disney Records

Depends on how much money you want to spend. There are audio software programs (for big $$$) that you can remove the scratch sounds from vinyl (onto mp3 or wav file). I have a 1957 "A Day At Disneyland With Jiminy Cricket and Walt Disney" I was able to considerably clean up. There were so many scratches that it would be impossible to get them all out, but I was able to make it listenable and restore missing parts (that the needle just jumped over.)

    Re: Vintage Disney Records

I, too, have never thrown anything away. I'm glad for this thread because it got me to finally go and look at what records I have from my childhood for the first time in years. I have
    • Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House
    • The Story and Song from The Haunted Mansion, including a short picture book, from 1969
    • Walt Disney's Fantasia, with a picture book
    • Walt Disney presents Best Loved Fairy Tales
    • Walt Disney presents Learning to Tell Time is Fun
    • 45rpm The Voyages of Sinbad the Sailor
    Then I have 78 RPMs:
    • A two-record set of the soundtrack from the Alice in Wonderland Disney movie
    • a Mickey Mouse Club record with Minnie Mouse singing the St. Louis Blues (!) on one side, and Donald Duck and Clara Cluck songs on the other
    • Mickey Mouse Club with Jiminy Cricket singing on both sides
I also still have my Partridge Family albums and a bunch of other kid's records.

    Re: Vintage Disney Records

I have quite a few records. I like to collect them for my kids to listen to. I have a stereo with a turntable that I got in the 80's that still works. The first time my neice saw a record she said, "That's the biggest cd I've ever seen." My kids thought it was cool that they knew what they really were. Some of the ones we have were mine when I was a kid and others I have bought at the local thrift store for either 50 cents or a $1. I bought a big stack of 13 of the little ones for $5 just a couple of weeks ago. What a deal! If there is anything someone is really looking for let me know, they have Disneyland Records there all the time, plus, I will be at Disneyland the first part of June so you wouldn't even have to pay shipping. Here is what I have:
    Small records:
Sory of Peter Pan (I have 2 of these, one is cracked so it may not really count)
    Story of Alice in Wonderland
Book and Record for It's a Small World and 1 just the record
    Robin Hood Story and Songs
    Cinderella Story and Songs
    Story of Sleeping Beauty
    Pete's Dragon Story and Songs
    Snow White Story and Songs
The Three Little Pigs Story and Songs
    Story of Bambi
Story of Wizard of Oz (Disneyland Story Reader-Lois Lane)
Story of The Whale Who Wanted to Sing at the Met
    Story of Mary Poppins
and Walt Disney Presents Mother Goose Rhymes
    Large Albums:
Happy Birthday and Songs for Every Holiday
    Mary Poppins
The Greatest Hits of Walt Disney
    The Story of Big Red
    Bambi
    The Little Engine that Could
    In Search of the Castaways
    Walt Disney's Happiest Songs
    Disney's Christmas Favorites
Christmas Carols from all of us to all of you
    Mickey and the Beanstalk
Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree
    Peter Pan (Magic Window Version)
    The Sword in the Stone
    The Jungle Book
    Walt Disney's Trick or Treat
A Child's Introduction to Melody and the Instruments of the Orchestra
Walt Disney presents The Stories of Hans Christian Andersen
    Dumbo
The Sound of Music (Disneyland Record)
    The Aristocats
All about Dragons Puff the Magic Dragon The Reluctant Dragon
The Gingerbread Man and other stories and songs
    Songs from Heidi
Book only for The Magical Music of Walt Disney
and Walt Disney takes you to Disneyland (from the Disneyland CD box set)

My parents have some more that were mine when I was little that they are planning to bring to me next time they visit.

Try checking your local library before you buy a turntable to convert your albums. My dad checked one out that connected to his computer and he copied my old records to cd for my kids to listen to in the car. It worked really nice.

Hey there, I just bought 3 new ones today. I'm excited and this is one of the few places where other people understand that, so thanks for reading:

Walt Disney presents Rudyard Kipling's Just So Stories. (all pages to book are present)
Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too (all pages to book are present)

It's a "Disneyland Record" It's a Small World 18 Favorite Folk Songs sung by the Disneyland Boys Choir.

I'll probably frame it. I'd like to do a Disneyland bathroom in our new house.
OMG - I think I have the same record! My parents gave it to me when I was a child. I LOVED listening to the songs on it!

I also have two MMC albums - one is songs from the original MMC, the other is of the MMC from the 70s. And the soundtracks from Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Robin Hood and the original Rescuers.

    *sigh*

I wish I had a turntable so I can play them again.
    She did it!

The main records that I wanted were Peter and the Wolf and Disney's Haunted Mansion. I have fond memories of both. Now that I have the two records that I set out to get, I can't stop. Now I'm finding records from well before I was even born that I'm inexplicably compelled to buy.

Anyone else out there a vintage Disney Record collector?
These are my favorite things to collect! I have every attraction LP (That I know of) including some nice picture discs.

I really lucked out about 7 years ago in Chicago - they had a record fair. It's actually a giant tent in the parking lot of a mall with nothing but used records in it. I have no idea where they came from. Anyway, on the last day they offer a special, you can fill a box they provide for 50.00 - well as soon as they opened I went to the childrens section and me and my roommate pulled every LP with a Disneyland Records or Buena Vista label. Then I went through and weeded out the duplicated. I ended up with about 100 unique Disneyland Records LPs!!! I was so thrilled.

I transfered some to CD, so I can listen to them without adding wear-n-tear to the actual LPs. The attraction LPs are the best. I remember being in WDW in the late 70s and getting the Haunted Mansion LP. It warped in the car trip home and I was devastated! But years later, I got it again, and it's my most prized LP in the bunch!

I easily have 100 DL LPs and 45s combined. I cherish them, although I never play them because my receiver currently makes them sound crappy

Wouldn't it be fun to get together with fellow vinylphiles and have a transfer-to-CD night?

Today I got the Numark turntable mentioned earlier in the thread...
    WOW - what great results!
You can make into .wav files for CD burning, or Mp3s, and the cleanup software works great!

Spectroman, do you live in LA?

Yes! That's a great album, especially if it's not all scratched up.
And Dolby, I'm close (Riverside) but haven't lived in LA since 1992.
