I actually decided to start painting these figures on my own to save money(as we will need at least several hundred of them)- it's actually quite fun. I'll post the project, within a couple of weeks, on my website with instructions for those who might want to take this on.
Instructions haven't been posted yet, but here's the results of our figure painting so far. Jason helped with the mickey ears and some of the more detailed painting. Notice the guest's plaid shirt.
Those are stunning. I think figures give some "animation" to the models - it's the same with a railroad layout. The castles and other pieces are beautifully detailed but they aren't "alive" just as Disney wouldn't be without its guests. Whatever scale you guys choose to use - keep up the good and fascinating work.
Now I'll turn that little mouse's dream into a nightmare Fantasmic !

This video shows a test run of the Faller Car System on our Olszewski Main Street Platform. The steel wire was scotch taped to the platform for the test run. The wire will be imbeded in the roadway(and thus hidden) and the truck body will be replaced with a scratch built Omnibus. This ingenious system works by a re-chargeable battery powered motor which drives the vehicle and a steerable front axle with a magnet attached. The magnet steers the vehicle by its attraction to the imbeded steel wire in the roadway. This system is only limited my your imagination, you can make the vehicle swerve around obstacles by strategically placing the steel wire and Faller offers accessories like stopping mechanisms, parking mechanisms, etc. We will add stops at Town Square and Central Plaza.
Yes, I am so enamored with it that I am planning to build a small model roadway. The only drawbacks, that we identified, are that Faller tends to use larger vehicles in order to hide the battery(thats why we will probably only be limited to the omnibus) and there is no way to regulate the speed. So in scale speed, our Omnibus is traveling quite fast. I don't know how Olszewski plans to move the electrical parade but from what I have been able to tell from the pictures out there is that he will use a cable, or something similiar, under the roadway to pull the floats along. The groove in the road is a bit of an eyesore to me so we may try to modify it using the Faller car system.
