Well I think Sparemint is going to be in a 3 pack with his pit boss and a pitty. I can look for the rest for you tomorrow if you want.

That'd be great! And hmm... i wonder if every race car will be released as a 3pack with their crew chief and pitty. I guess until I hear about it, I'm gonna have to get all the race cars.

Well, you probably won enough money in Vegas to buy these, right?

Not every racer will have a 3 pack with crew chief and pitty. At least the Apple racer will not as Mattel responded in a Q&A that due to legal/contractual matters, they won't be able to release it anytime soon.

Has the Apple racer been released? Was it one of the Kmart Cars released last weekend?

Edit; Nevermind. I just saw he was in the big raceway set

The Apple car was released in the massive Speedway of the South set exclusive to hot wheels online whatever it was. I didn't buy it because it was like a few hundred dollars.

In retrospect, I shoulda because it sells for over a thousand now. The apple car goes on ebay for about $80.

Maybe. Still I think it will happen one day. I mean they will probably be making toys based off Cars for years to come and someday Mattel with be able to convince Apple to do it.

Has there ever been a toy line based off a movie that has done this well (except Star Wars of course).

I went to Toys'R'Us and noticed that there's another promotion going on to buy 5 cars from them to redeem another exclusive racer.

N20 COLA is the race car. He's #68. The good thing about this one is that they're allowing you more than 2 months to hunt as the promotion ends on 12/31/08.

Couple of notes about new finds. My local Target had the Storytellers wave. It's a kind of prequel to Cars based on a children's book.

Also WalMart had got the larger scale Cars, Like the biplane and fighter jet. There are six in the wave and they had all six.

I bought a Ron Hover and a Storytellers Swell Smell McQueen from Target today.

Yes, the Storytellers singles are priced rather high at 5.99 but they're already NCF (non carry forward) on the tags and so I have a feeling they won't be available for very long.

I had melonballer pick these up for me the other day but after reading the "prequel" book, I asked if he could return them. The storytellers is nothing more than a way to repackage and sell much of the same cars at higher prices. And the ones that are "unique" are just repaints based on the book. I'm really not interested at all.

These are EXPANDED UNIVERSE Cars toys and I want nothing to do with them. It's kinda cool to be able to pick up a tractor by itself though, or heck... even Flo is finally a single pack. But I have no interest in these otherwise.

So you're probably not into SW EU figures, are you Coheteboy?

I am so that's probably why I don't mind this particular subline.

Not really into expanded universe Star Wars either. Mainly because i don't read the books, comics, or get into the gaming. I just like the movies and some of the cartoons.

And besides, it will eventually get to the point where you look at all the toys you bought and it's clear what you wouldn't mind not having. I can see CARS going that route very easily.

I found the chase Impound McQueen at Kay-bee's. Even better, they're having a 30% sale on Cars toys so it cost me only $2.79 or so.

I also bought 5 assorted Cars from TRU because I didn't want to get shut out on N20 Cola like I did for Sidewall Shine.

    Re: Mattel's Cars - discussion

Thanks to Melonballer, got some new CARS. He found these I think a month ago and even though I've been hunting regularly, STILL haven't been able to find ONE of these. Crazy CA scalpers and horrible distribution is to blame.

    Here's Ron Hover

Sally with Cone... have no idea why I asked Melonballer to pick up because I don't remember her with a cone ever? What is this?!

Dexter Hoover adds to the Pisto Cup Officials line up:

The chase Impound McQueen. Love his expression.

    Here's Spinout Lightning McQueen
"Boy, you're in a heap of trouble."

Next are some oversized Cars. Here's Lightning Storm Lightning McQueen

    A new favorite is Marco:

They released a die-cast MACK without a trailer..

It's a tad bit smaller than the previous one released. Not sure which is more accurate now. There is also no hole for the other trailer to plug into.

An updated Al Oft the Lightyear Blimp... here's a comparison.

The Dinoco Helicopter has also been upgraded:

Not pictured is Barney Stormin the bi-plane... he's actually the EXACT SAME SIZE as the previous release that was a Wal-Mart exclusive. The only difference is that the new oversized version is die-cast. The previous one was plastic.

    Here's the oversized flyers:
