Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

Even though it's not a toy, I picked out two sets of the BK Star Trek drinking glasses:

I was just going to get one set, but I decided on two - one to keep sealed and one to use. I hope to move to Calgary for work and realized that I don't have any of my own glassware so I figured what the heck.

Tomorrow I'm going to see what Trek toys they have with the kids meals as I want to get some more of those. I just wish that BK could release toys that are a little more environmentally friendly, that is, to make the batteries replaceable on them. You can get into them if you have a triangle-head screwdriver, I just wish they'd use a Philips-head instead.

Another collectible, yet non-toy acquisitions I got were a bunch of Indiana Jones comic books for my Indy collection. I got:
    • Indiana Jones and the Tomb of the Gods #1
    • Indiana Jones and the Tomb of the Gods #2
    • Indiana Jones and the Tomb of the Gods #4
    • Indiana Jones and the Golden Fleece Issue #1
    • Indiana Jones and the Golden Fleece Issue #2
    • Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade Issue #1
    • Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Issue #1
    • Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Issue #2
    • Free Comic Book Day book with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Yearning
If you are into comic books, check out your local comic store to see if they have any of the Free Comic Book Day promo books still available. The promo was last weekend.

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

I have some CARS that I haven't showed off yet. I basically just stockpile them until I have enough to have a massive opening.

But let's start with the one I'm NOT opening: CHUKI in chase packaging.

Next up is Milton Calypeer. Here he is with the rest of the random misc. Radiator Springs motorists from yesteryear.

    Andrea (right) has the microphone

reporter Chuck Manifold doesn't look very happy

Damaged King is pretty fun in his beat up kinda way

Nitroade finally gets his pitty: HUGO FAST

    All the pitties

    And Elvis RV

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

The Iron Giant was on tv today, actually!

Most of my weekend acquisitions have already been photographed by others so I didn't want to bother

Star Wars Legacy Collection Medical Frigate Luke and Leia, Ugnaught
GI Joe Hall of Heroes Firefly
    Burger King Enterprise and Uhura
Hot Wheels Enterprise 1701-D (from Star Trek the Next Generation)
    Cars Elvis RV.

Barbossa, I have that Temple of Yearning free comic book day comic but to me, it's a Clone Wars comic, seeing as how that's on the cover.

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

A couple more BK Star Trek promo toys:

    The Enterprise and Young Spock

The local BK also had Uhura, so I may pick her up tomorrow. I missed the Tricorder from last week.

Apparently BK has something online for these toys. The Canadian BK website doesn't have it, but if you go to the US BK site, register in their kids section, and enter the four digit number found on the toy (Spock has 5402 for instance), you can unlock something. I don't know what it is though.

Does anybody happen to know if there are any websites dedicated to fast-food restaurant toys/collectibles?

Darn Star Trek, I miss the Indiana Jones BK promo.

At BK, I picked up Uhura and the USS Kelvin:

I just realized, they don't have Nero or his ship in this set, too bad. That goes for Ensign Ricky as well.

One of our BK locations has sold out of the glasses already, and I think there are only a few left at the other BK. Glad I got mine when I did.

OK. The latest Harry Potter goodies from Gently Giant (the Bellatrix LaStrange and Professor McGonagal bust and from Tonner the great Dumbledore himself). I don't have them set up yet in the Harry Potter Magic Room, but these will have to do for now. Just some shots on the table in my room.

Dumbledore is 19" tall, has 35 points of articulation, heavy brocaded costume and volumes of white hair. No wand with this one though.

I think Belatrix is one of the absolute best busts that Gentle Giant has done for a Harry Potter figure.

McGonagal is also good by pales by comparison in detail

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

I bought the glasses today... I think I was overcharged though??? I bought a chicken sandwich value meal and 4 glasses. It said a glass was 1.99 with a purchase... how much should the others have been? My total was $18.74. I didn't realize it then but I thought the whole set was $6.99???

    The had plenty though.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Yup, I think you got ripped off. I got a value meal and the a set of glasses and it come out to about $12. The glasses are all sold out at both of our BK locations. They went fast.

Today I picked-up Zulu, Bones, and Spock's ship:

They also have the Communicator available. I may pick that one up tomorrow. I missed the Tricorder last week.

From the set I still need:
    Kirk
    Old Spock
    Chekov
    Hover Bike
    Klingon Warbird
    Tricorder
    Communicator

If there are a few I'm still missing near the end of the promo, I may ask the manager if I can get the ones out of the display.

The next promo is Transformers. They will have a new burger, a scratch & win contest and 8 kids meals toys. This will be followed by a GI Joe promo. I love Transformers but I don't know if I'll do these promos as I'm getting prettty sick of their burgers - too many at once. Here's a link to a Blog with more info:

Barbossa, do your local Burger Kings not sell the toys individually? Usually they'll sell them from anywhere between $1 to 2.

Re: The Recent Toy Acquistion(s) thread

I guess Burger King underestimated the demand for the glasses. I was only able to get Kirk today. The only other one I would want is Uhura so I'm not going for a set. I also bought a Kelvin for $1.

As for other toys, I bought the Star Wars Scramble on Yavin (pictured on Coheteboy's acquisitions a few pages back). I didn't want to pay 26.39 at Target so I waited for TRU and/or WM to get them in.

I also got in the mail from a friend on another board Justice League Unlimited Superwoman and Booster Gold.

Here is the Justice League Unlimited Legion of Superheroes set I received in the mail today. From left to right, Lightning Lad, Cosmic Boy, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5. The backdrop is from the Playmates Star Trek Enterprise bridge playset that I got a few days ago.

I also got in the same shipment from Mattel, DCUC Starfire and Adam Strange.

I picked up the last of the Burger King Star Trek toys: Chekov, Nursing-Home Spock, Hover Bike, Klingon Warbird, and Communicator:

So, the only ones I missed are Kirk and the Tricorder. I'm going to see if I can get the ones out of the display tomorrow.
