Very cool. So, hoping there's a good chance of getting Donald character for photo ops.

Wow! Thanks for finding that picture. It may seem strange but it's these little design details that I love most about the Disney Cruise ships.

And welcome to MiceChat!

I am just as excited as you. I can't wait to see what they have in store for the ship.

Re: Unveiling of Disney Dream scheduled for October 29!!!

OOOOHHHHH!!! Just got my winter D23 issue and there is a four page article about the new ship with concept art and details!!!! One of the most exciting things is the new water slide.... AquaDuck!!! It starts at the top of one of the smokestacks, plummets down a ways, cantilevers out over the edge of the ship (poor aesthetic design choice?) in a clear acrylic tube, then you go down and up a few times using technology similar to Crush 'n' Gusher at Typhoon Lagoon (or Master Blaster at Schlitterbahn; commonly referred to as a water coaster), spirals around into the other smokestack, before splashing down..... With a ride time comparable to a coaster in a Disney park!!! (the article also said something about Donald flying away, or his bum sticking out at you, I can't remember now because I was too excited while reading the description, and now I have to go do homework) The article also referenced to Turtle Talk but I can't remember what it would be used as..... And there will be a Palo... And a champagne lounge called Pink with pink acrylic bubbles, and the pink elephants from Dumbo show up every now and then before popping away... And the concept for the atrium is very similar to the current ships..... The chandilier (sp?) looks to not be made of glass.... It's a very strange design actually, but looks nice.

Sorry to ramble on... Any questions?

Sounds cool! I hope the water slide isn't too visually intrusive. Any hints at restaurant concepts? (A return of Animator's Palate by any chance?) Details please!!

The only thing said about dining options is that there will be a Palo, an upgraded Animator's Palate, and the Pink champagne lounge mentioned in my above post.

There are about six concept images. One is the atrium (you can see in the background that there will be a Shutters again, with a slightly different logo). There's also images of a stateroom, Palo, Pink, a children's play area called Andy's Room, and some other stuff I can't remember right now. I gotta go to school now, but I hopefully can post some scans tonight if you guys haven't received your issues yet. Are you members of D23?

My parents are, but I'm at college, so I don't get to see the magazine... don't worry about the scans, I can wait wait 2 days for the press release.

Sounds exciting! Glad to hear Animator's Palate will make a triumphant return.

Re: Unveiling of Disney Dream scheduled for October 29!!!

Wow, thanks for posting that! You did a surprisingly good job of summarizing everything in a 4-page article into a few sentences.

I must say I'm surprised by how... similar... it seems. A return of Palo, a return of Animator's Palate, a return of the Oceaneer's Club, etc. Not that I'm disappointed, though!

That water slide sounds really really fun... and like the opposite of the Mickey Mouse slide on the Magic and Wonder. The first two ships' slide had a maximum height limit, pretty much for kids only... and this one has a minimum height limit - no kids allowed!

It's also much easier to tell that Disney owns Pixar this time around, with Turtle Talk, Toy Story murals, and Pixar-themed kids areas.

And I do really like that chandelier.
