Re: Wondering if the S/S Unted States could be Disney's 5 liner?

Why does it have to be a Disney Cruise Ship?

What about the Disney theme park on a boat concept that we've seen?

In my opinion for what it is worth...Disney is the only company with the imagination to make the ship specail and magical enought to be a success.

But as Gino said a few posts back....its not going to happen.

I won't go that far.I just think its very unlikely unless people get behind the idea......like the submarine attraction in DLR..............most people thought it was dead until people banded together and got it going!

Here are some photos of the fine old liner, she has some beautiful lines and design features.

Add a few more decks and the disney touch (and pixie dust)....she would be amazing.

The SS United States sits indefinitely at a pier in Philadelphia, but she was designed to move fast: Her knifelike prow could cut through the ocean at 44 knots. Inset: The luxury liner crossing the Atlantic in the 1960s.
SOS FOR THE SS UNITED STATES – PLEASE HELP SAVE HER! Will the famed liner survive 2010?

Walt Disney signing an autograph for a young fan aboard the SS United States during a 1950s crossing from New York to Europe. Both Disney and the boy are wearing party hats – it was probably Captain’s night aboard the famous vessel. The SS United States held the trans-Atlantic speed record.
