Watched it this morning, thought it was pretty neat. Wished I was there! Never knew the Jennifer Hudson worked on the Wonder prior to AI. Only criticism is that it seemed like the helicopter picking up the bottle was taking little too long, for what ended up happening. The "breaking" of the bottle was... a bit anticlimatic.
Seeing the ceremony today made me wonder about the first two ship's christening ceremonies. I couldn't find them anywhere online. (I realize it happened pre-youtube) But does anyone know who the Disney Magic's godmother is? I know the Wonder had Tinkerbell but couldn't find anything on the Magic.
i think it would have been better with a virtual bottle as the bottle itself didn't really break. and Jennifer hudson would not have been my choice to christen this ship. with so many other big names onboard that was the best disney could do?
I thought the show was decently produced. I agree that it seemed like it took forever for the bottle to get picked up, but I was thinking (and probably a lot of people) that everything went as planned, and there were no accidents.
I think the effect worked. Looking at it from a distance, it seemed like champagne was coming from the bottle. As far as Jennifer Hudson, I thought it was a good choice. I think Disney not only liked that she worked on the Wonder, but there were so many ways to tie in the "Dream" theme to her ... The movie Dreamgirls, and the success she has achieved.
All on youtube now =)
