The Sub in the Panama Canal

Ok, I may be getting ahead of everything but trying to classify over 1200 pictures, 700+ from the Panama Canal alone, is proving to be a daunting task. Tonight I came across our Panama Canal pics and decided to start a thread specifically showcasing the submarine that scooted in front of the Disney Magic in line to get through the canal. This was one of the highlights of my hubby's day so I thought I'd share his pics..........and I promise not to post all of the 75+ pics he took just of the sub. I hope other cruisers (Ken) will add to the pics because I'm sure someone (Ken) with a larger camera (Ken) took some clearer shots (Ken).

We were supposed to head into the first set of locks at around 6:30 a.m. So most of us dragged ourselves out of bed to watch the exciting journey. But we are behind schedule, why? The submarine gets the right of way over Mickey Mouse. Isn't that Un-American?

Here is one of the first clear pics we got of the sub heading into the Pedro Miguel Lock followed by mucho security.

Moving down to the Pacific Ocean.

Out of the Lock and headed to the Mira Flores Locks.

The view from just above the ship's bridge.

It wasn't me, it was Lisa!

I have one thing to say about going through the locks:

I powered the ship. I swear! It was me peddling that bike for 70 minutes straight! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Shayne, I'm sure that Ken has tons of pictures of the Panama Canal day so I'll tell him you want him to post them just in case he didn't get your hint(s).

Thanks for the pictures Shayne, I missed the sub. All I saw was a post sticking up out of the water by the time I saw it. Those are some really good pictures too!

Seeing subs is cool. I watched one come into the Shipyard at Bremerton today from the ferry. We had to wait for it too. It made me late for work.

My pics didn't come out much better - I wasn't willing to elbow my way through the crowds. Kevin had the height advantage
    But, here's what I have.

I was shooting from the back of the boat.

That is so cool! I was reading a cruisers blog and they mentioned a webcam at the locks. However, they said the webcam had been shut off while the sub went through for security reasons. Yet, I've seen dozens of pics of the sub from peoples' trip reports!
    I want my cake back!
