Re: Which Musical acts would you pay to see live?

I paid top dollar to see The Police and The Eagles and both of them were worth it. I saw Garth Brooks a couple times in the 90's (the first time at a free concert), he is such an entertainer that he would totally be worth top dollar, but he always kept his concert prices pretty low, I think the second time I saw him when he was at the top of the charts it was only about $30.

Night Ranger is playing a free concert at the Rib Cook-Off in Sparks (Reno) this weekend, I'm tempted to fight the crowds and go check it out.

I'm not sure of any other bands I would pay top dollar to see anymore (I think I get cheaper with age!). I probably would pay top dollar to see Duran Duran again just because they were my first real concert back in 1984.

I saw the Rolling Stones in Vegas awhile back, and it was a great show. You can see the same set on "Shine a Light" blue-ray or regular DVD (they shot the movie a week after the Vegas concert). I also saw the Steve Miller Band in June at the casino near San Berdo, San Manuel, and he was sharp. He has a DVD of the new tour out that's selling well. I'd like to see John Fogarty, the Black Crowes, and a reunion of the J. Geil's Band. They used to have groups play at Disneyland, at the rising stage now used for the Jedi Academy, and I remember seeing the Blackberries from England there, an excellent rock band.
I happen to be a fan of the Disneyland bands: all of them! They need to dump the high school musical, and bring back the waveriders!

Re: Which Musical acts would you pay to see live?

Most of the concerts I have been too are arena or stadium shows - and after the last one (Metallica, Linkin Park, Mudvayn) I came to the conclusion I'm just not interested in paying so much for that type of experience. I mean when you gotta pay $100+ to see the Stones and you are still so far away, etc. So I don't think I'll be paying to see anyone in those kinds of venues anymore.

Smaller club venues I think I'd still like to see because I do want to enjoy the performances, just in a more personal setting and not for so much $$$$$. But even those are rare at cheap prices anymore. The price of concerts just got out of control... from $20-$30 way back when, to $150+ being common. I would have loved to see the Police on their last tour, but not for the price of a kidney!

I'm too old now.. I'm think I'm stuck with the lawn/fair concerts Wolf Trap near us and community concerts are a great alternative. We get most of the 80s rock bands, and revivals of older bands as well.
