I do have to admit that I give Moulin Rouge a few whirls from time to time. But mostly for "Come What May" or what's that other one? "Your Song" or something. I like those the best.

And I forgot to mention one of my absolute favorite Danny Elfman scores. I don't even think they released it in full. But his score for NACHO LIBRE is hysterical! It's so different and awesome.

I really like the soundtrack to The Cider House Rules. The music written by a woman whose name escapes me at the moment. I believe her first name is Rachel.

Re: What's Your All Time Favorite Movie Score/Soundtrack?

I was dying to know what note is being sustained in "Why So Serious" so I did some investigating. I don't think anyone else cares but I really needed to find out for myself and for the most part it's a D with bends of a half to whole step upwards and downwards.

Now I can drive my neighbors insane by playing it on my electric guitar + effects pedals and with a razor blade to scrape the strings. mwhahaha!

Re: What's Your All Time Favorite Movie Score/Soundtrack?

I went to an animation symposium last night and Andrew Stanton was there talking about when he was supposed to be doing rewrites on Finding Nemo. He mentioned that he always listens to movie soundtracks and one tune came on that inspired him to start writing Wall-E again, which was kind of buried, almost forgotten at that point.

It was Jerry Goldsmith's Star Trek theme and it really got him going.

    Just thought I'd share that.

I agree. I love the instrumental piece that's played during the visit to the art museum. I have looked for it for years and never found what it was.

It's simple to find out really......

If someone who has the movie, or just rents it, play that part in the movie. And if someone has VCAST Song ID from Verizon, or some other from of music ID service, it should be able to ID the song and the composer for ya.

    Tough to pick just one.

James Horner's Rocketeer score is wonderful, as is just about anything by John Williams or Danny Elfman.

POTC 1 soundtrack. Love that cd.....even my 6 yr old loves it.

    Immortal Beloved.
Most of it was conducted by Sir Georg Solti. Yo-Yo Ma played on it. Fantastic recordings of Beethoven.

Sadly, I left my copy in a computer at work....and forgot headquarters was switching out our computers that night.

-Hunchback of Notre Dame -- There's something about a score with latin chorus behind it. This score was so much richer than his previous works and it gives me goosebumps.

-Pocahontas -- This is a beautiful score. Very underrated.

-Home on the Range -- The movie stank, but the music was very strong indeed.

-Enchanted -- It's like alan menken grew up or something. This music feels more grown up than anything else he's done before... even if it feels familiar.

RANDY NEWMAN -- How could I forget Pixar's regular? Sure he has an annoying voice but his music is good! I think my favorite work of his belongs to the first two Toy Story movies.

    I'll think of more.
Yeah, one of my comments about Menken was specifically about Home on the Range, couldn't stand the focus on the 3 cows, with roseanne the main cow ~ but WOW! on the the music - the opening song and animation was beatiful, and had a great sense of humore in the lyrics. All of the music was incredible in that movie.

as for Hunchback ~ could NOT STAND the 3 gargoyles, or their song - what a complete mess. the rest of the music was good, not great, but good. Pocahontas, well, sonrry, not a fan of the movie or his song for that. That's one of the very few of Menken's that I didn't care for. Musically, ok, just didn't like it.

As for Randy Newman - not a fan of his style music, although I admit it fit well with Toy Story. but I just don't have high hope for Princess and the Frog, as his songs don't hit the right chord with me. I really wish that Menken would have been the composer for this movie. I would have love to hear what Menken would have done for this movie, New Orleans style jazz, no doubt it would have been amazing. but with Newman? oy!
