Was talking about the movie Daredevil on the worst movie list and I mentioned the soundtrack for the movie did better than the movie itself, like many others.

I was about ready to write a thread about favorite movie soundtrack when it occurred to me, that I already did one! lol

So I thought I'd reawaken this one.

I will back up what you said about the FG soundtrack, the 2-disc with all the songs through the Gump era did very well. I liked the score by Silvestri better though, it had some sweet sounding tracks. Like the Forest Gump suite for one, the one was basically Forest's theme.

Back to the daredevil soundtrack, that one pretty much launched the career of one of my favorite groups, Evanescence, with Bring Me To Life and My Immortal.

To be honest, I wasn't ever paying attention to the music in the xmen films. I was too caught up in the action. Ironic though, because with movies like The Rock, Broken Arrow, and the Pirates movies, even with all that action, I still noticed the music and loved it.

Howcome I get the feeling that since you placed evanescence in bold letters, that's what gave you the idea for the thread?

Must not like the band! Well, everyone's entitled.

Re: What's Your All Time Favorite Movie Score/Soundtrack?

I bought BOLT (john powell) and STAR TREK (michael giacchino) today. Upon first listens, they're average at best. I'll have to listen a few more times to see just how often a theme is used, how unique the tracks are, etc etc.

The thing about Giacchino's Star Trek is that this is the first score of his that I didn't fall in love with upon first listen. When it came to The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Cloverfield (end credits), and even Speed Racer, I was all "i must have this music immediately!"

Best Soundtrack for original music...still, after all these years, The Sound of Music, film version with Julie Andrews. I'm surprised that this seems to be the first Rogers-Hammerstein mention - they had so many good ones.

And for existing music, I agree with the previously cited Forrest Gump.

While there are many soundtracks I like I guess my favorite will always be :

    The Little Shop Of Horrors

It doesn't matter to me if it's the Original off broadway cast , the movie or the newer broadway cast edition I love it just the same.

I still get tingles when I hear the Rocketeer theme on that observatron thingy, (the huge eyesore where the old rocket jets were) in Tomorrowland.

Pretty much everything I would have mentioned already HAS been mentioned. Good work, esp. Coheteboy.

I would add Howard Shore's score for the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. And 2 old, old scores: Max Steiner's Gone With The Wind, and Erich Wolfgang Korngold's Robin Hood.

I know there are even more but I can't remember them.

Why thank you! I do concur about Shore's Lord of the Rings. I love his themes and melodies.

A part of me however wonders how it would sound if he had a different orchestrator. It sounds as if this could be a lot more full. It kinda lacks the full sound that I get from a lot of Williams and Horner.
