The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

    Anybody read it?

It's marketed as a young adult novel, but I'm a huge fan of Gaiman's books, and when I saw it, I had to have it. I read it yesterday in about 3 hours time, I could barely put it down.

It's about this kid, named Nobody Owens (Bod for short) whose parents and sister are brutally murdered when he's a baby. Somehow he ends up in a graveyard, where the ghosty inhabitants decide to raise him as their own child, and protect him from the mysterious stranger who killed his family and targets him.

The book is freaking phenomenal. Incredibly imaginative and richly textured. I didn't want it to end, and I can only hope one day Neil Gaiman decides to tell more stories about this character.

Have you read it? If you haven't, you should definitely give it a whirl.

I read Coraline before the movie came out and loved it, so I will have to give this book a try.

Everyone one in my family has read it and totally LOVED IT. I'm next in line but have to finish my re-read of Harry Potter first.

Thanks for the review! I don't know anyone who has read it yet. I'll have to pick it up on my next visit to town.

I have not read the book. But I heard the funniest review from a podcast:

"What?? the parents could not come back as ghosts and raise their son? They had to outsource it?"

Sounds interesting! I took your advice about the Sookie Stackhouse books, so when I finish the series, I'll have to check this one out.

Heard about this at a library conference and ordered it for the school. Once I'm on track with my list of slowly dimishing books, I'm going to check it out too.
