    If you have seen the new "Mr. Lincoln" exhibit at Disneyland, this might look familiar.

    Now they come to life, in a sense, with one of Brian Wilson and Mike Love's early classics.

    I'm feeling a little 80's today This song is from my favorite movie of all time, Back to the Future. I have lots of great memories of this song, from crazy late night driving sessions with my friends, summer parties, and seeing Huey Lewis and the News live in 2005. Hope you guys enjoy

    One of my favorite Jonathon Coulton songs. Not really a fan of the fan-made video.

    I love the classic "girl groups" of the early 60's, and the Shirelles were among the best of them. Thanks for that!

    YouTube - Sarah McLachlan - Building A Mystery

    Sarah's "Building a Mystery." It was my first concert, 17 years old, Lilith Fair with my mom and her co-worker and I begged to go, but she was like "Um... I think I need to go with you..." (I think she thought it was going to be scary or something and it was in Pasadena, and she felt safer and then she told her co-worker and yeah...). So it was at the Rose Bowl and we saw the Indigo Girls sing with Ellen and the big guy from Blues Traveler (and I think this is right before Ellen came out...). Anyhoo, I remember feeling like "This is where I belong." And when Sarah came on, despite only knowing like 4 of her songs I sang along with everything (it felt like I knew her music in my soul). Then she started doing this song and I was singing along and got to the cursing part and screamed out the profanity so loud (along with the rest of the audience.), my mom immediately put her hand over my mouth and was like "Kimberly!" It was the first time she heard me cuss. And because of that concert I learned other bands that are now my favorite bands.

    Okay, I'm already going to violate my own rule about "one per day".

    These are my two favorite songs from "girl group" that era.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TE5cd5Z4y8"]YouTube - The Crystals - He's a Rebel[/ame]

    It's well known that Phil Spector developed his "wall of sound" as a record producer, with most of the popular girl groups. In the early days of the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson was driven to compete with Spector, the same as he was later driven to compete with Lennon and McCartney.

    Brian says this following is the best-produced record of the rock'n'roll era, and like He's A Rebel, just listen to how Spector worked with all the different parts to create the whole.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKWmSHuJc4U"]YouTube - The Ronettes - Be my Baby 1963[/ame]

    I couldn't help myself...I'll try to do better observing my own rules!

    Growing up in the 70's a friend and I spent a lot of time listening to the Beatles. I still have a vinyl boxed set of almost all of their records. One of our particular favorites was the white album.
