Walt Disney's Imagineering Book II now released

If you're a fan of this book:

Then you're going to want this book:

I just received mine from Amazon and it is BEAUTIFUL. Wrapped in plastic, this book is not just an updated copy of the first one. It is a FOLLOW-UP book that covers a lot of new stuff that has happened since 1995's release.

I haven't had a chance to look through it all yet but the opening pages already show images and concept art of the updated Paradise Pier, upcoming Florida Fantasyland, Midway Mania, etc.

Since the last book, Tokyo Disney Sea, Disney's California Adventure, Hong Kong Disneyland and Walt Disney Studios Paris has opened.

Definitely a great book if you're a fan of behind the scenes stuff. Even if you're not thrilled with what Disney has been doing in the parks, it should prove an interesting book nonetheless. (it is weird to see Mickey's Fun Wheel gracing a big opening page.... just seems so cheap)

Well that's answered my question! I was concerned it was just an update - ie a couple of new pics at the back of DCA opening.

Nice to hear that it covers much more!

Just got it today from Amazon.

Amazing photos in it. If you love the parks, you'll love this. Worth the 40 bucks.

Everyone Buy the new Walt Disney Imagineering Book!

Imagineering: A Behind the Dreams Look at Making MORE Magic Real.
Just got this in the mail today from amazon.com. It's the companion volume to the first (and incredibly great) Imagineering book that came out in 1995.

Amazon has it for only $37 (with free shipping): normal retail is $60.

FINALLY, Tokyo DisneySea gets the love it deserves from a company that usually downplays its existence. There's an enormous amount of concept art for DisneySea in this book. An early map shows exactly where Glacier Bay would have been built and what it looks like (though much of the other ports have been moved around). Some great stuff from Tower of Terror including a full-page portrait of Harrison Hightower.

There's also lots of art from Hong Kong Disneyland and the new rebuild of California Adventure. Many hours worth of great reading. I can't imagine any Disney theme park lover who would be disappointed in this book.

There IS one error though. On page 69 it says..

"...and it's great fun to watch Guests' faces as they inhale the chili-dog breath of Stitch in Stitch's Great Escape!"

Or maybe it's true that it's fun to watch, but it's not fun on the receiving end!

another error is on page 51. The caption for the photo reads: The Submarine Voyage at Disneyland, circa 1987. The photo is very very very current... like Nemo current.

I haven't finished the book yet but it takes me awhile to study the photos and art.

I took one look at this thread and knew straight away I needed to buy this book. Its now in shipping from Amazon.com.

Does the book include much on Disneyland Paris?

It's actually amazing just how much Paris is ignored in this book. But, I think the reason behind that is because Paris was featured pretty decently in the first Imagineering Book, and the Walt Disney Studios Paris just isn't something they're very proud of.

They do talk about Crush's Coaster a tiny bit though. I actually haven't touched the book in 3 days so I need to hurry up and finish it.

Few more mistakes I caught: the name TOY STORY MIDWAY MANIA! and TOY STORY MANIA! are equally confused in this book as both names are used randomly.

Re: Walt Disney's Imagineering Book II now released

There are several errors in credits for concept art. One of them credits the art for Phantom Manor to someone other than Dan Goozee. That's pretty stupid and should have been caught: Disney even released an enormous litho of the art that was signed by Goozee.

I just got my copy, and I love it! looks excellent! '

although I noticed a mistake... on page 19ish, with the double page spread on Imagineering Around the World, under Disney World, there was a picture of HKDL's main street.

    Just my OCD.
