Not much news to show you guys just this Opnamen Mermaid commercial in volle gang, kijkje in de regiew... on Twitpic
(They're filming for the commercial which will give a first look at the real sets and costumes)

The also started building the sets in the theater in which they will will premiere. So I hope I can show picture's of the sets and costumes soon!

It looks like a true Broadway show I think so far! Still no word yet on Vanessa, 5 may will be the first preview so lets hope we will learn more about her by then.

The first 2 previews have played last 2 nights and I have some news for you all~!

HUMAN STUFF (song) is scrapped(!)
I WANT THE GOOD TIMES BACK (song + reprise) is scrapped(!)

DADDY'S LITTLE GIRL is the new song (+reprise) for Ursula which has taken I Want The Good Times Back his place.

The song tells about Ursula's OLDER SISTERS(!) which one by one all were 'daddy's little girl' until Ursula KILLED THEM one by one till she became 'daddy's little girl' In it's reprise it is also mentioned that she KILLED ARIEL'S MOM(!) That's a lot new back story and I hope more gets released soon!

Flounder is played by a men of the same age of Ariel and apparently has a little crush on her(!)

WE STILL HAVE THE DANCE CONTEST ENDING Which I found a real shame

So far the feedback by visitors has been mostly positive but they all agreed stuff needs to be tweaked before the grand opening.

it looks so beautiful. That is the type of set i wish we got! i don't know how i feel about ariels floating triangular hair though.

I Want the Good Times Back is actually one of the better songs from the musical - shame it's cut in my opinion.

Anything with Scuttle being cut is a blessing. The less time he has on stage, the better if his character is similar to what was on Broadway.

Back from my 12 Italy trip and I have more news!

More previews have been played and more feedback is released. There are MANY complains about the swimming hair (Ariel+Sisters) which is shaped like a big point right up. So I think they will take these complains and change it. So far the public doesn't mind the changed ending as much. (I had really hoped they would complain big time so it would be changed) Individual pictures of Triton, Sebastian and Flounder looked really ugly to me but I heard that on stage they look Ok. The translated songs sound also really nice.

The show has officially premiered!



So far so good, though die-hard Disney-fans and theater fans are harder to please.(they aren't that fond on the pointy wigs and story changes) The general public has been very positive and have very nostalgic feelings seeing the show. The kids love it as well so I think the show will do great here in Holland. The newspapers also have been very positive so far.

They also announced that a production based on this one (instead of the Broadway one) will open later this year in Russia. They also started planning bringing the show to Italy.

Another interesting thing that got mentioned in an Interview with Joop van den Ende (Head of Stage Entertainment which does all the European Disney shows and many more) is that he wants the next Disney musical in Europe to be Aladdin!

Been there tonight!!!!

I LOVED IT!

It was so much better than from what I've seen from Broadway! I'll wright a full review later.
-The show opens with something like the main titles from the movies (exploring the ocean instead of Fathoms Below)
-Fathoms Below comes AFTER The World Above.
-Sweet Child reprise is officially gone from the show.
-Daddy's little girl + reprise replaced I Want The Good Times Back + reprise.
-Under the Sea plays BEFORE Triton destroys Ariel's human stuff (on Broadway Under the Sea came AFTER all this)
-The sisters rolls have been expanded and they admit that they are jealous on the fact that Ariel is daddy's little girl.
-Flounder is played by a guy of the same age as Ariel and has a secret crush on her, yet he will help her with the prince as long as she is happy.
-A reworked finale with Flotsam and Jetsam dragging Ariel below the surface to Ursula. A Big Ursula crashing the palace. And Ariel trashing Ursula's magic shell because the finds out Ursula killed her mother.
