    Aladdin: The New Musical Comedy (Broadway)

    They're still in the rehearsal / previews stage and I haven't found many telling clips online, but what do you guys think? I've been saying Aladdin should be on Broadway since the first time I saw Aladdin A Musical Spectacular at DLR.

    But it is a *new* musical so it's not like we'll just be seeing the same numbers from DLR on a bigger scale. Although that's what I've always imagined. There's no guarantee they'll do anything even remotely similar, which leaves room for disappointment, but also good surprises.

    One cool thing though is that the original voice of Jafar will be reprising his role Complete Cast Announced

    Wow that's great news. Especially the prospect of Jonathan Freeman playing Jafar. Should be a great show.

    It seems to be the essentially the same creative team and cast as the Seattle production a couple of years ago.

    What interests me is how different will it be from the Seattle production.

    Not a huge update per se, but a nice little 'behind the scenes' number showing the rehearsals.

    This production is beginning to make the one at DCA look like community theater. ;_;

    Of all the Disney productions, I think THIS is one I'm gonna HAVE to see.

    Aww poor ol' DCA. I think it'll still have its charm.

    The Broadway version does look promising. It should be good given its forbears from Disney Theatrical.

    I have no doubt it will be the musical telling of Aladdin on steroids. It should be though.
    Disney has endless resources ($$$$$) so every show they've put on since they first hit the Great White Way should be a blockbuster with the best talent…..be it their actors, costumers, lyricists, set designers, choreographers, etc.
    Don't get me wrong. I've seen a couple of Disney Theatricals shows and thought they were great.
    But again, with the money and connections they have, they should be the best things going on Broadway.
