Show us your favorite music video from "back in the day"

Remember the “good old days”, when you watched M-TV for the videos. I was reminiscing tonight about the old videos I really liked and thought it’d be fun to share what videos you liked back then.

I thought it’d be fun too, to have YouTube links so if people wanted to watch them they could!

Here’s a few faves of mine:

The Tubes – She’s a Beauty (I always liked the fact that it was a “ride”)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<span.../u></a></span>

Thomas Dolby – Hyperactivate (god I loved this song from 1983)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<a hr.../span></u></a>

The Cars – You Might Think (the graphics were top notch back in 1984)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<a hr.../span></u></a>

Art of Noise – Close to the edit (summer of 1981 - such a fun wacky video)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=<a hr.../span></u></a>

Godley & Cream – Cry (one of the first "morphing face" videos)

    The Go-Go’s

Our Lips are Sealed (totally remember seeing this video for the first time waiting for my carpool ride when I first started 9th grade back in 1981)

Back in "My Day" we didn't have music videos. We had 33 1/3 RPM records, then the 45 RPM records came out. All vinyl, just a record on the record player. Later came automatic changers, WOW! that was great, put on a stack of records and listen for a whole 15 minutes before changing them again!

    Those were the days!

Fire up the Wayback Machine . . .

The first "video" I ever remember seeing. I think it was on Saturday Night Live. Paul McCartney does a version of Coming Up that's much different from his hit single, but I love how he both parodies and pays homage to pop/rock music icons, including himself:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=http:...?v=xvEQmyoP18E

The video that launched MTV, when it really was music television:

One of my favorite late '70s songs:

A little more recent, my favorite video from my favorite '90s album:

One video I couldn't find was the original version of Madonna's "Live to Tell." I always liked it because it was just Madonna singing on an empty soundstage, no burning crosses, no writhing on a gondola. A reminder that when she wasn't busy "being Madonna," she actually was a pretty good singer.

Oh yeah, there's a lot more. These are just the first ones that come to mind ("Sledgehammer" did too, but Clinks beat me to it).

Loved loved loved Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam's "All Cried Out." It's a fantastically overwrought song with totally rad 80's production values!

Great song! I DJ'd at an Urban Top 40 station in the early '90s and it was still one of our most requested songs 6 or 7 years after its release. A classic.

Re: Show us your favorite music video from "back in the day"

Videos for "my day" were few and far between as MTV made it's shift to what it is today.

    Some I remember however

I remember the first time I saw this one, I thought Serj looked a lot like Osama.

Seeing it now the cameos make sense, but back then I didn't recognize some of the people (except Dre and Eminem)
