Re: What book are you reading? (or just finished)

    I just finished:
Indiana Jones and the Genesis Deluge by Rob MacGregor.
This is the fourth book in the Indiana Jones Bantam novels. It was an alright story, but it seemed to take a while to get to the MacGuffin which was Noah's Ark. The MacGuffin wasn't in there too much though, just got coverage on about four pages at the end.

    Now I'm going to start:
Indiana Jones and the Unicorn's Legacy by Rob MacGregor.
This is the fifth book in the Indiana Jones Bantam novels.

Same here. But the movie was fantastic.

Just finished The Gunslinger by Stephen King.

I'm on to The Drawing of the Three. I remember reading this a LONG time ago, I forgot how freakin' weird the beginning is.

I highly recommend Into the Wild - even if you've seen the movie. The book is outstanding and very haunting. It's an amazing read.

Finished A Great and Terrible Beauty, working on Midnight Sun and rereading Twilight. I have the other two books in the Great and Terrible Beauty series and The Host to read next.

Just finished Voyage of the Dawn Treader and am now halfway through The silver chair. Slowly but surely I will finish the Chronicles of Narnia

Just finished Distant Heart about a reformed prostitute on the Oregon Trail. Turns out it's book 2 in a series so there were parts that didn't make a lot of sense. Otherwise, pretty good.

Reading Rolling Nowhere: Riding the Rails with America's Hoboes by Ted Conover for one of my classes. It's a really interesting book, great look at a lifestyle and mini-society that is very often overlooked, and is shrinking today.

"Mail Order Murder" by Leslie Meier. I think I've read one in this series, a long time ago.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

"Liberal Fascism" by Jonah Goldberg. So far, this is a really good read, recommended for anyone who has an interest in politics, and political history.

Re: What book are you reading? (or just finished)

I have finished The Plot to Seize the White House: The Shocking TRUE Story of the Conspiracy to Overthrow FDR by Jules Acher. It given an account of a plot to establish a fascist dictatorship in the United States in the early 1930s. The conspirators sought to enlist Major General Smedley D. Butler (Ret) to act as dictator. Conspirators include higher ups from J. P. Morgan & Co. and the Du Pont family. The biggest downside is the format of the book. It is divided into four parts, but parts one and three cover almost entirely the same material. Part one is a more novelization of part three, which is about General Butler's testimony to the Congressional Committee on Un-American Activities (a precursor to HUAC).

I am now reading my personalized, signed copy of The Patriot Nation: Bob Barr's Laws of the Universe, Volume 1 by Bob Barr. It is a collection of articles written by Barr over the past several years.

May I suggest My Autobiography by Benito Mussolini. The work includes Mussolini's own view of where fascism fits into place with its aims. I think you will find it interesting.

At the gas station yesterday I picked up From Lucky to Smart: Leadership Lessons from QuikTrip by Chester Cadieux. What can I say, I'm a fan of QuikTrip and I have a book buying problem.

I'm almost done with Drawing of the Three.

Just finished the part with the Gunslinger in the gun shop. Seriously, one of the most vividly written chapters of any book EVER. I should be starting Waste Lands within a day or two.
