Re: What book are you reading? (or just finished)

Finished Suburban Transformations by Paul Lukez. Offered really nothing new or all that interesting. A big disappointment.

Rereading Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino and just started The Architecture of the City by Aldo Rossi.

Re: What book are you reading? (or just finished)

Finished Magic and the Modern Girl almost a week ago and then finished Extras last night. I liked that one a lot. I liked seeing how Tally sees other cultures and then how other people view Tally, whom we've seen change over the past 3 books and kinda' gotten used to her ways only to see "wait this isn't normal." Kinda' interesting. Wonder if there will be a 5th.

I decided to put 1984 down for the time being, I just couldn't get into it. I decided to start reading Angels and Demons again so I can be ready to go when the movie comes out.

Breathe: a ghost story : My kids are all reading it, so I thought I'd give it a go. It was very similar to Coraline, but dealt with issues I didn't feel were appropriate for 10 year olds

    Under the Northern Lights: awful

To Catch a Pirate: incredibly cheesy.

Wizard's First Rule: Had I known that it was book one of like 12, I don't think I'd have picked it up. Still it was entertaining. I plan on watching the show (Legend of the Seeker) to see how it compares

Government's Manual for New Pirates: Full of inacurate information.

Reading Luxe- I don't know what to think of it so far

Great book, though anything by King is good. I'm in the middle of his Dark Tower series.

    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

By the way, keep powering through TDT and let me know what you think. It's phenomenal, in my opinion!

So far I am in love with the whole series. Book 4 broke my heart with Roland and Susan, that really reminded me of an old girlfriend. The series is incredible.

Are you reading the Dark Tower comic books from Marvel?

I just finished it about a month ago. It's AMAZING. Just a warning though, when your done, you won't want to read anything for awhile. It's exhausting.

I still need to do my "review" thread I've been wanting to do, should have done it while it was still in my head. Maybe this weekend.

I'm already more than 1/2 done with Angels and Demons. I forgot what a great book this was.

Chris Salvatore's Necking. After that, book 5 of the Dark Tower.

Have you guys read the companion books for the DT series? One is by Robin Furth and the other by Bev Vincent.

I've read them a little bit but not much. Kind of like The Stand comics. I'd actually like to get my hands on both of the series.

Do yourself a favor, when you finish book 7, go back and read The Gunslinger, again (preferably the newer, revised edition). You'll be amazed at all the different things that get referenced.
