Re: What book are you reading? (or just finished)

I read IT in 8th grade and I adored it. After that behemoth of a book, watching the movie is a total let-down. But that is often the case.

I am usually reading a few books on any given day....

Right now, the book I read at work on lunch breaks is Why Dawrwin Matters: The Case Against Intelligent Design by Michael Shermer

I enjoy it enough. The guy used to be a fundamentalist and became a biologist. His studies basically changed his mind. It's pretty interesting.

And the book on my nightstand is Ron Jeremy's memoir. It's basically a fluff piece, but entertaining enough to finish. I can't have ALL my reading be super serious; I'd go mad!

I'm about ready to quit reading Sex and Sensibilities -- the author has the annoying habit of spelling very veree. WTF!?!? Makes no sense and is driving me crazy! Story is pretty lame too.

Because without them it is just a travelouge and it never would have survived over 2000 years. Don't worry after you read it two or three times you will have the characters and their stories down pat, besides a good many of them should be familiar from The Iliad.

Just finished re-reading The Hobbit, now reading Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol. Also Ted Kennedy's memoirs.

I haven't read The Hobbit for years so it was time. Dan Brown is always good 'take my mind off things' reading. Quick-paced and interesting.

Just finished a book called Marked by a mother and daughter with the last name Cast. It was beetr than I thought It would be. Think Harry Potter falls in love with the new vampire craze.

Also finished a Rachel Morgan mystery book ( called For a Few More Demons). A little confusing since it wasn't the first in the series, but a few chapters in and I was hooked! Think simplified muder mystery meets sci fi meets fantasy.

Both were very fun and for the most part, Light hearted reads.

I start school tomorrow, and I am taking two english classes. Hopefully some of the assigned reading will be treasures. there is usaully at least one.

just finished Deadly Harvest by Heather Graham, which is the secong in a trilogy, but I didn't read the first. It's about fall in Salem Mass, ans has lots of references to fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving, so it you want something to put you in the FALL mood, this is the book.
Now reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

    Public Enemies.

REALLY good. I can't believe I never read this before. I love how it shows the overlapping time frame for different criminals.
