    the pillars of the earth

anyone else read this??? I read it when it first came out in 1989, and fell ion love with it. It's set in the 1100 and about the building of the cathederals in the UK, but also about the people.
I'm really not into history or medieval times, but I LOVED this book, and it's over 1000 pages, but it really is a quick easy read.
I watched Oprah last week and she was talking to Ken Follet and has it as one of her book club selections.
Ken Follett has just released a sequel, and I really wanted it for Christmas, but being as it has been so long since I read it, I want to go back and re-read it.
This morning I was at the newstand and they had a copy. the original price was $21.95, and it was marked at $5.95, os of course I grabbed it!!!
I am so so so so so so happy right now, and can't wait to read it again!!!

Re: the pillars of the earth

I just finished reading Pillars and the sequel "World Without End". I loved them both. I was so disappointed when I finished them. I wanted another one to read. I like reading novels set in the middle ages.

I received the first book for Christmas then waited a couple of weeks before I started reading it. I felt like I raced through it so I was very happy when I got the sequel for my birthday in January.

My friend loves Pillars and it's the favorite book of one of my co-workers. I keep hearing good things about it. One of these days I will pick it up. (I work at a bookstore so it won't be hard for me to find it!) Glad you enjoyed it. It's fun to hear about people getting excited over books.
