Stephanie Plum books: Ranger or Morelli?

Question for all who have read (or are now reading) the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich.

Ranger or Morelli? Neither or both?

Me, I say Ranger. Tall, dark, mysterious, who takes care of his family....plus the way he says "Babe". I can imagine what it sounds like.
Press today is so concerned with cool vs. not cool that they're starting to forget good vs. bad. I'm not sure I'll ever be "cool", but I will always tirelessly strive to be "great". - Josh Groban

It depends on the book! Sometimes It's totally Morelli, other times it's totally Ranger. But I wasn't impressed with either in this book. They seemed to really be in the background. Anyone else notice that?

    BOTH!
    Come on now!
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

No way man i think Ranger is a dark lovely man good for a fun time, but there's an air about him that i get that radiates a family man.

Or maybe i just want that..

    I'm a dude.
Neither are the perfect match for Stephanie. Great for the short-term, though.

I'd like to see this book series as an HBO series. Eight or twelve episodes per book, series is on twice a year. That's seven years' worth of good programming, so far. Heck add the Christmas and in-betweeners as specials.
Hmm, I see the first was done, probably horribly, by USA.

No way! I think eventually both will be willing to settle into a family life.
and a TV series would be fantastic

Hmmm. I don't know whether that's a compliment or a plain statement. I'll take it as the former

More neutral, but she certainly has some unique qualities.
Steph would love to get one of these guys to settle down, if only to create some stable structure in her own life. But they can't settle down. Morelli is a skuzz with the heart of gold, Ranger is the cold-blooded killer with the heart of gold.
And, she needs both. Morelli for when her life is not in danger, and Ranger for when it is.
I see no end to this. My wife will check out the 14th book from the library, and we'll alternate reading it.

We could cast the series. Jessica Alba for Stephanie might be too pretty, but she'll have the right skin tone (Hungarian/Italian), and it's easier to ugly-down than to pretty-up. And, she probably wouldn't do it, lowering herself to TV.
Maybe Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr for Morelli.
    No ideas about Ranger, though.
Joe Pesci for the Bail Bond owner.

I don't like any of those cast suggestions lol.
I think Steven Strait for Ranger
    no ideas for Morelli
I think Sandra Bullock would be a fabulous Stephanie.
