Amazon to sell exclusive Twilight Blu-ray box set

$79.99 collection to be available May 5

Twilight will be available in multiple configurations before Amazon's exclusive is released.
Amazon.com is offering one of the most premium-priced Twilight configurations, an exclusive $79.99 Blu-ray Disc collector’s set.

The Twilight Ultimate Collector's box set, streeting on May 5—a few months after Summit Entertainment's Twilight debuts on DVD and Blu-ray on March 21—features an individually numbered jewelry box, an exclusive watch, a limited edition bracelet, photo cards and a book mark, as well as a certificate of authenticity.

It appears that the Blu-ray disc will hold much of the same bonus features in the earlier Twilight high-definition release, which will be sold exclusively at Best Buy and Target. Shared features among the Blu-ray versions include music videos from Muse, Linkin Park and Paramore, as well as a featurette on Twilight panel at last year's Comic-Con.

Amazon’s Blu-ray also will include a Web-enabled, BD Live sneak peak of the Twilight franchise’s second theatrical installment, New Moon. That extra hasn’t yet been listed for the earlier Blu-ray release.

The Twilight franchiseis a runaway hit, grossing $188 million at the U.S. box office. The book series on which the film is based remains a long-time bestseller.

Some Amazon consumers have posted complaints at the site about what they feel is a high $79.99 retail price. Amazon's release is $50 more than the price Target and Best Buy are charging for their Blu-ray version.

However, Summit is offering consumers plenty of choice in purchasing Twilight, with various versions being sold at different retailers.

As well as the Blu-ray versions at Best Buy and Target, Wal-Mart will exclusively sell the single-DVD Twilightedition, and Borders will have its own exclusive Twilight-two version.

Comcast Bows ‘Twilight’ On Demand Day-and-Date March 20

While most Twilight fans will be lined up at their local video store for the midnight March 20 release of Summit Home Entertainment’s vampire hit, the couch potatoes don’t have to miss out: Comcast will debut the film on demand right when the DVD streets.

“We’ve gone day and date on demand with all of our titles, and Twilight is no different,” said Steve Nickerson, president of Summit Home Entertainment.

Available in high-def, Twilight on Comcast on demand also comes paired with three featurettes, including one exclusive: a behind-the-scenes view of the “Vampire Baseball” scene.

“Delivering this international pop culture phenomenon right into customers’ living rooms demonstrates the power of Comcast on demand,” said Derek Harrar, SVP and GM of video services for the cable operator, in a press release.

I have to admit ... I'm just as excited, too. We (my sister and I) have ours preordered from Blockbuster. When my sister found out that you could get your copy at Wal-mart on Saturday at 12:00 AM. She called Blockbuster. As long as we are waiting in line before 12:00 AM, we can get our copy at that time!

Re: The Twilight Saga Discussion Thread (SPOILERS)

I went to the Borders party last night. I was the first to get the DVD. There was about 40 people there. Over at Hot Topic the line to get in was huge. It's a tiny little store and they had to turn a lot away. They said at least 100 people were in line. Lots of teens went there, us older people were at Borders. We had fun with the trivia. There were some people who knew too much. Ha ha. Some of the questions were pretty hard. Like, what was on Charlie's cruiser? The population of Forks? Lots of quotes from the book and movie. Hmmm, guess I just have to read the series again.

Ah Twilight, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

My English professors are absolutely mortified that I want to be an English teacher and yet I love these books. ;D Gotta love em.

What I love most among the Twilight saga books is New Moon. Breaking Dawn is another thumbs up for me. It was so moving that I can't wait for it to be shown on the screen....

Can't wait also for the New Moon movie....

I will only say this once because it needs no explanation or reinforcement:

    Twilight is Barf.

    The end.

    but technicolor pachyderms

The last book was pretty bad, but I enjoyed the first three.
