Disney Infinity FAQ
This is an FAQ on Disney Infinity. We will update this guide as new character figures, play sets and power discs are released. If you find information or questions which should be added, please let us know.
About: Disney INFINITY is a video game released by Disney Interactive on August 18th, 2013. The video game uses collectible figurines which can be placed on a base state to interact within the game itself.
Systems: Currently, the game is available for the following systems: iOS, Nintendo 3DS, PC/Mac, PlayStation 3, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360. IOS is a level editor only and not a fully playable game. Wii does not have full online interactivity and online play ability. The game is not currently planned for the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 systems.
Starter Pack: The starter pack for Disney Infinity retails for $74.99. If you want to add new Play Sets or figures to your game, these are what are available for purchase. Play Sets go for $34.99, three figure packs (not shown) are $29.99, and the individual figures are $12.99.
Power Discs: These are used within the game in both the Play Set and Toy Box modes. They have become a hot trading commodity. They come in blind packs as seen below, causing you to not know what you'll receive. People have found ways to exploit and find what is in the blind packs though. Initially released are 20 various discs, with Toys R Us exclusively releasing 10 additional ones at select times. At the moment the only TRU exclusive one released is Mike's Car. These are how each package and discs look like.
These are the Toys R Us exclusive discs that they will be selling. Mike's Car was the first to be released in the gold packaging on release day of the game, August 18th, 2013.
Toys R Us also has the exclusive rights to sell the crystal variants of the figures as well. It is believed, (based off the PS3 system files), that the main character from each Play Set will receive a crystal variant. The only character not from a Play Set to have a crystal variant will be Sorcerer's Apprentice Mickey. Crystal Lighting McQueen was the first character released. It came out on the same day as Disney Infinity's August 18th release. Aside from different aesthetics in the game and in hand, the figures are to have increased powers and health compared to its regular counter part.
With the release of the game, Avalanche Studios/Disney Interactive Studios also released five free to download toy boxes. These are listed as such below. Download of these Toy Boxes is possible only on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, & Wii U. The Wii and Nintendo 3DS are not supported for these downloads.
- Wonderland Maze - Fall down the rabbit hole and fight through this Alice in Wonderland maze. Take on obstacles and enemies at every turn.
- Medieval Arena - On guard! Transport to the Middle Ages and joust opponents on horseback -- or atop an elephant.
- Tron Vs. Sugar Rush - Tron and Wreck-It Ralph collide! Challenge friends on a high speed race through The Grid and Sugar Rush.
- Happiest Place - The Happiest Toy Box on Earth! Experience the magic of this Disneyland recreation shown at the D23 Expo.
- Floating Castle - Soar high above and take in the view! Rail grind up into a Floating Castle and battle friends for the throne in this royal Toy Box.
For those buying or who have bought this game on the Nintendo Wii, 2 player co-op in the Play Sets is not functional. Online co-op is not functional for the system as well. Various elements within the Toy Box mode are also excluded from the game do to the limitations of the system.
Various functions in the online world are non-functional at the moment. You are able to join friends online to create various worlds though. Disney Infinity Online and multi-player online features will not be released until October, as per Disney Infinity Support. For those playing on the PS3, headsets are not useable at the moment. The thought is come October this rollout will make the headsets functional.
The Nintendo 3DS is also not as the console version of this game. It is a Mario Party styled game that does not allow you to create in the Toy Box Mode. It's base is wireless and the characters will all work for the system, but its implementation is different. Do not go into this thinking you have a portable toy box creation game in your hands because you wont.
In October, a PC version of Disney Infinity will be released. All current Play Sets, figures and power discs will be useable for this version. It is expected to emulate the iOS Toy Box creation app. Specific requirements for the game to work have yet to be released.
The Disney Infinity: Toy Box app will be released on the iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad & iPad Mini in the coming weeks. This app will allow you to create as you please on the go. You can then save your creation to your Disney Interactive account and download your creation onto you PS3, Xbox 360 or Wii U version of the game to complete or try out what you've made. A limited amount of pieces are given to create with and any figure you've bought can be used in the app. Just enter your web code given to you from the figures you bought. The code will be on a character card within the figures package. These will be connected to your Disney Interactive account for full integration.
A Disney Interactive account is needed to play this game. For those with a Disney account already, you'll be set to play. For those who do not have one, registration for one can be done at the start of the game. This account can be used for any Disney website.
Check back here as more characters, Play Sets and power discs are released. This post will be updated at that time. We hope you enjoy the game and thank you for reading MiceChat!
