    NPD Numbers for July

    http://kotaku.com/index.php?refId=5037091

Latest numbers are out again. First the Hardware
    Nintendo DS - 608,400
    Wii - 555,000
    PlayStation 3 - 224,900
    PSP - 221,700
    Xbox 360 - 204,800
    PlayStation 2 - 155,500
DS takes the top spot again followed by the Wii and PS3. All systems saw a drop in sales for the month with the PS3 and DS taking the biggest hits. Could the Wii bubble be close to bursting?
    Software
    01. NCAA Football 09 (Xbox 360) - 397,600
    02. Wii Fit (Wii) - 369,600
    03. Guitar Hero: On Tour (DS) - 309,700
    04. Wii Play (Wii) - 284,000
    05. NCAA Football 09 (PS3) - 242,500
    06. Soulcalibur IV (Xbox 360) - 218,900
    07. Mario Kart Wii (Wii) - 174,500
    08. Rock Band Special Edition (Wii) - 165,800
    09. Soulcalibur IV (PS3) - 155,800
    10. Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution (Xbox 360) - 147,600
Compared to June, the software numbers have dropped as well. Where's MGS 4 though? That game dropped out of the top 10 faster than GTA IV did! Rock Band for the Wii cracks the top 10 this month which bodes well for Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour for the Wii

The comments are saying that was just for one store. It sold really, really well in Japan.

I still haven't bought it --- just beat Metroid 3 today, and my game budget isn't high this month due to car troubles :-\

Cherny, it's the must have game for the PS3.

it didnt leave me in tears like MGS3 did, but you walk away from it with a sense of accomplishment and pride for Solid Snake.

Don't worry, don't worry, I'll get it eventually

However, I have not played MGS2 and 3 yet, should I do those first? (I looooooved part 1)

to REALLY understand everything thats going on in 4, yes.

but theres alot of throwbacks to 1 all the same.

HOWEVER, theres a bundle pack that has 1,2 and 3 selling right now. easy way to pick up the other 2 and crank those out before tackling 4

Yup I have the bundle pack -- I just hadn't gotten to 2 and 3 yet! I just beat Metroid 3 (with 100% pickups) and am about 12 hours into Tales of Symphonia on the Wii (Gamecube game). So I'm not too lax in my game playing, hehe just too many options

    Yes.

The pack comes with Metal Gear Solid 1 (PS1) and 2/3 (PS2). Totally worth it. They should have it at Gamestop for the 29.99 price new.

the great thing about it is that the MGS3 copy in the bundle is the Subsistence version of the game with the EXTREMELY better camera
