Playstation Home beta is out

Home beta is out and you can get it through the XMB.

I actually have a reason to boot up my PS3 now!

Thanks for the heads up, I had no idea this had launched.

The character creator seems impressive, although it's missing some pretty standard hairstyles and facial hair options. No goatee or beard option? What?

It will probably allow the most realistic recreations of users, but it seems less fun than the Xbox and Will versions. Modifying shapes of body parts allows for great accuracy, but the lack of some features means my avatars on other systems look more like me, at least for now.

The rest of it looks...promising. Could have potential.

It seems cool so far, I just wondered why it doesn't download the whole thing at once. Like, 77MB gets you Home and your apartment and whatnot. Then if I want to leave the apartment and go to the central plaza, that's another 25MB. You can download it in the background, but all you can do in the meantime is wander around your empty apartment. If you exit back to the XMB (out of home), it does not keep downloading. So you just gotta sit there.

Obviously, once you have your main spaces downloaded then there won't be this issue. I think tomorrow morning tho I will just log in, choose all the spaces so that I can download it all, then leave for work

Did the same thing for me...I hadn't booted up my PS3 in months outside of being a bluray player (and even then was only once or twice thanks to AppleTVs HD rentals) til now.

I like Home...it's small and doesn't have a lot yet, but in the coming weeks as they add stuff it'll get better. People just need to realize its a chat room to meet people to play games...not a game itself.

killzone 2 will be the first thing that's come out that I want to play on it. I found MGS4 on sale for $39.99 at BB but I ended up buying a Rock Band stage kit for the 360 instead...
